The OLED Patterning Business Unit seeks a motivated Process Engineer in Alzenau, Germany, responsible for complex process development tasks to enhance and validate OLED Evaporator equipment, focusing on evaporation sources for organic materials.
Must have:
  • Define and execute experiments, validate HW/SW features for evaporation sources, measure layer properties, and analyze results.
  • Solve process problems at alpha/beta tools in the lab and at customer sites.
  • Develop processes based on customer and market requirements, driving product improvement.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems, perform root cause analysis (8D Reports), and resolve engineering challenges.
  • Create internal and external documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
  • Act as technical interface for customers regarding problem solving.
  • Identify and implement new technologies and applications for business development.
  • Present results to management and at conferences.
  • Drive continuous process improvement.

The OLED Patterning Business Unit develops new front-plane organic display technology and hardware supporting display manufacturers throughout the world. Joining the OLED Display team offers significant career opportunities to contribute to the growth of Applied Materials integrated material solutions for global customers.

We are looking for a motivated, energetic process engineer to join and support our team in Alzenau, Germany. The Candidate would be responsible for complex process development tasks in an interdisciplinary environment to enhance and validate our OLED Evaporator equipment with focus on evaporation sources for organic materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Definition and execution of experiments, process validation of HW/SW features for evaporation sources, measurement of layer and component properties as well as analysis and interpretation of the results regarding different process parameters and hardware configurations
  • Solving of process problems at alpha / beta tools in the lab and at customer sites
  • Development of processes according to customer and market requirements, driving product improvement and differentiation
  • Troubleshooting of complex problems, performing of root cause analysis (8D Reports) and resolving process engineering challenges & issues
  • Creation of internal and external documentation for products, presentations and technical reports
  • Technical interface for customers in the context of problem solving
  • Identification and implementation of new technologies and applications for the development of new business areas
  • Presentation of results for the management as well as at conferences
  • Driving continuous process improvement

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in physics, chemistry, material sciences or compatible
  • Experience: Experience & passion for display manufacturing technology
  • Teamwork: Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, good presentation skills, HW&SW development, experience with closed loop control beneficial
  • Communication: Fluent in English and German
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to customer sites in Japan, Korea and China as well as Applied Materials manufacturing sites/offices in Taiwan, India & US
