Job Description

This Product Engineer role focuses on post-NPI product responsibility, from sustaining to End of Life (EOL). Responsibilities include ensuring sufficient manufacturing capacity, qualifying new locations and components, providing technical support between contract manufacturers and Google's engineering group, and proactively driving contract manufacturer readiness. The role also involves product health monitoring using metrics like First Pass Yield (FPY) and Manufacturing Cycle Time, and managing customer-facing issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. This involves on-site support at contract manufacturers, driving engineering validation and test coverage, collaborating with Data Center Operations, and managing product changes globally.
Good To Have:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, hardware design, operations, or manufacturing testing.
  • Experience working with Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), Contract Manufacturers (CM) and suppliers to lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and process improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • 10 years of experience at a company developing supply chains in manufacturing and testing.
  • Experience working with component suppliers for data center servers.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries and scripting in Python or Bash.

In this role, you will be handling product responsibility after NPI, through sustaining until End of Life (EOL). You will have to ensure physical capacity is not a constraint to support our operations plan, qualify new manufacturing locations, production lines and second source components. You will provide technical support and be the liaison between our Contract Manufacturer partners and our Google Engineering group and proactively drive Contract Manufacturer readiness to support our Google’s product roadmap. You also have to do Product health monitoring through, Test First Pass Yield (FPY), Manufacturing Cycle Time, and component qualifications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000-$166,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for production and pre-production builds at Contract Manufacturer/Original Design Manufacturer including driving factory readiness, supporting product bring-up and sustainment, providing training, and gathering feedback on Design for Excellence (DFX) and quality issues.
  • Drive engineering validation and coordinating with test engineering to establish test coverage requirements for manufacturing processes.
  • Work with Data Center Operations teams and Contract Manufacturer/Original Design Manufacturers to monitor, analyze and perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) on field failures.
  • Manage the customer-facing for production and remanufacturing product issues, initiate investigation of issues, root cause product failures, and drive corrective action.
  • Drive qualification and roll out product changes across Google's manufacturing sites globally and accountable for sustaining product debug process.
