Job Summary

The Product Team is seeking a Product Manager specializing in buy-side advisory solutions to accelerate business expansion in the Chinese market. This role involves assimilating Morningstar's global expertise, staying updated on industry trends, and aligning solutions with the Chinese market. Responsibilities include user research, business training, feedback analysis to propose product enhancements, driving user growth, and maximizing commercial value. The manager will also participate in product strategy formulation, requirement definition, feature planning, and solution implementation and delivery. This position is based in Shenzhen.

Must Have

  • Conduct thorough research on domestic and international investment advisory industry trends and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancements.
  • Design product solutions based on user needs, positioning, and application scenarios.
  • Write requirement documents and collaborate with designers for UI development.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product test, and data teams.
  • Develop and execute market strategies for Morningstar's advisory solutions.
  • Present buy-side advisory business methodologies and Morningstar solutions to institutional clients.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to support go-to-market plans.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in product management.
  • Strong business acumen and product analysis skills with clear logical thinking.
  • Proven experience in independently leading product planning and design projects.
  • Proactive with excellent communication and external presentation abilities.
  • Exceptional learning ability, strong coordination skills, ownership, and team collaboration spirit.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Background in internet product operations, public funds, or investment advisory services.
  • Prior experience in product presentations.
  • Background in quantitative research.
  • Proficiency in programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL, Java).

  • CFA charter holder.

Job Description

To accelerate business expansion in the Chinese market, the Product Team is seeking a Product Manager specializing in buy-side advisory solutions. In this role, you will swiftly assimilate Morningstar's global expertise in the investment advisory sector while staying abreast of the latest domestic and international industry trends. Leveraging this expertise, you will align our solutions with the Chinese market's development stage and user preferences. Through ongoing user research, business training, and feedback analysis, you will propose targeted product enhancements to drive user growth and maximize their commercial value. Additionally, you will participate in formulating product strategies, defining requirements, and planning features, while driving the final implementation and delivery of the solutions. This position is based in our Shenzhen office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research on domestic and international investment advisory industry trends and best practices, maintaining acute awareness to inform product strategies and continually refine Morningstar China's advisory solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for product innovation and product enhancements, and design product solutions based on user needs, product positioning and application scenarios, write requirement documents, and collaborate with designers to develop UI.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product test and data team to align on product requirements, ensuring the product's development progress and delivery quality.
  • Develop and execute market strategies for Morningstar's advisory solutions, creating compelling presentation materials and written proposals that clearly articulate product value and strategies, ensuring successful implementation and sustained growth in the Chinese market.
  • Present buy-side advisory business methodologies, processes, industry insights, and corresponding Morningstar solutions to institutional clients.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to support go-to-market plans for new products, helping them understand product positioning, key benefits and target customers.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance product understanding and utilization efficiency for both internal teams and clients.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product management, preferably with a background in internet product operations, public funds, or investment advisory services. Exceptional candidates may be considered with less experience.
  • Demonstrate integrity, openness, and inclusive values.
  • Strong business acumen and product analysis skills, coupled with clear logical thinking and proven experience in independently leading product planning and design projects.
  • Proactive with excellent communication skills and external presentation abilities. Prior experience in product presentations is highly desirable.
  • Possess exceptional learning ability and strong coordination skills, while demonstrating a sense of ownership and team collaboration spirit.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, capable of producing high-quality product proposals and marketing materials.
  • Candidates with a background in quantitative research or proficiency in programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL, Java) are preferred.
  • Candidates with basic design capabilities and proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) to complete product solution designs are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • CFA charter holder preferred.
