Job Description

The Production/Continuous Improvement Engineer will optimize assembly and manufacturing processes by analyzing product and methods, designing and implementing robust process flows, and creating work instructions. They will support manufacturing programs and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure cost-effective processes for new and existing programs. Key responsibilities include identifying inefficiencies in current workflows, implementing improvements to reduce waste and enhance quality, analyzing production data, investigating root causes of issues, and developing and implementing corrective actions. The role also involves leading or supporting projects to improve productivity or introduce new equipment/processes.
Must have:
  • Good understanding of Lean principles/tools
  • Good understanding of Six Sigma

Who will you be working with?

We are seeking an experienced Production/Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team at the LH Group (a Division of Wabtec UK Ltd) based in Burton on Trent we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

Role: Production-Continuous Improvement Engineer

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30pm and Friday 08:00am to 13:00pm, 37 hours per week 

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

The key aim of the role is to optimise the assembly and manufacturing process by studying product and manufacturing methods, designing, and delivering robust process flows and work instructions. Support manufacturing programs and continuous improvement disciplines in providing cost effective manufacturing processes for new and existing programs.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Analyse current production workflows to identify inefficiencies.
  • Implement improvements to reduce waste, increase output, and enhance quality.
  • Collect and interpret production data to monitor performance.
  • Investigate root causes of production issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead or support projects aimed at improving productivity or introducing new equipment/processes.
