The role also entails maintaining SAN space, managing archives, reporting tech issues to engineering, and communicating ETAs. Experience in a post-production environment, knowledge of digital capture cameras and files, and offline editing experience are essential.

Position: Production Manager
Location: Santa Monica, CA (Onsite)
*Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 USD annually

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Manager is responsible for managing the color assistant team to ensure the department runs smoothly.

MAIN DUTIES:
Department Support: The Production Manager will have a full understanding of all ongoing projects daily. They will provide support to assists as needed to mitigate potential bottlenecks. They will lead client calls along with production to determine workflows, work with Head of Production to create and/ or update workflows within the department and create and share documentation department wide. They will also:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Production, Artists + Color Assists when issues arise. 
  • Collaborate with Production Managers from other departments to discuss challenges and strategize improvements. 
  • Manage the training of all color assistants on current workflows. 
  • Manage the weekend support schedule for the color assistants.  
  • In partnership with the Head of Production, participate in interviewing and hiring color assistants  
Project Support: The Production Manager will provide assist support as needed including but not limited to the following:
  • Set up project folder structure on the SAN. 
  • Educate Producers/APs/Coords in learning how to review client provided prep files/elements to ensure sessions run smoothly. 
  • Prep and build project for color (conformed sequence, camera selects etc) as needed.  
  • Color-trace project if required  
  • Ensure all project settings are set to the defined department standard, including artist specific requests  
Engineering: The Production Manager will maintain SAN space and project archives to ensure that volumes are properly managed and flag all system and tech issues encountered to engineering, communicate ETAs with producers/colorists and submit support tickets. 

WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in a post-production environment. They will have knowledge of digital capture cameras and files and have a background and/or knowledge of offline editing. Additional desired skills include:
  • Avid and/or FCP experience & Adobe Premiere 
  • Blackmagic Resolve and/or other color correction software experience a plus 
  • File based workflow experience 
  • Knowledge of HDR and Dolby Vision workflows 
  • Knowledge of mobile storage devices and formats
