Job Description

This Production Supervisor role at Wabtec involves leading and directing up to 50 union hourly remanufacturing technicians in Kansas City, MO. The supervisor will oversee the entire remanufacturing process of traction motor combos, from inspection to final processing, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures. Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe work environment, promoting product quality, meeting production schedules, driving continuous improvement through problem-solving, managing financial plans, coordinating staffing, and utilizing data to eliminate defects. The role requires collaboration with plant leadership and services teams to achieve safety, service, quality, and cost metrics.
Must have:
  • Providing leadership and direction to hourly team leads and remanufacturing technicians.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by providing training and enforcement of corporate and site initiatives, rules and guidelines.
  • Promote product quality through proper employee training, completion of training records, and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Delivering production on schedule, to meet both internal and external customer demand.
  • Driving continuous improvement by engaging people in active problem solving, by analyzing trends to solve the root cause of problems.
  • Managing the operation to meet business financial plans.
  • Manage and coordinate staffing to achieve production goals, while cross training the team to allow for flexibility and a stable operation.
  • Utilize data to discover trends and eliminate sources of product defects.
  • Support other business objectives and projects, that allow us to solve problems for our customers and our employees.
  • Administrative and managerial standard work (training documentation, payroll processing, updating of reports, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to meet operating targets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Description:

Provides leadership and direction to up to 50 of our union hourly remanufacturing technicians, while collaborating with members of the plant leadership team to remanufacture traction motor combos. Remanufacturing is the process of receiving in a non-functional combo, completing an inspection, determining the condition-based work scope that needs to be applied, and then processing the combo per our standard operating procedure. Production Supervisors will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for all facets of the manufacturing process. Production Supervisors will work closely with our hourly remanufacturing technicians, plant functional leaders, and our services teams to ensure that we meet our operating metrics of safety, service, quality, and cost.

Responsibilities:

  • This role is on 1st shift (5:00am to 2:00pm) with some weekends during our peak periods.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Engineering)
  • Previous leadership experience (preferably in business or manufacturing environment)
  • Working knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to meet operating targets (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

1 + years experience in industrial operations

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between $67,400.00-$96,000.00. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
