Job Description

Samsung Semiconductor powers daily technology, from smartphones to data centers, and seeks a Program Manager for Immigration & Mobility. This role is crucial for managing the U.S. immigration program and supporting global mobility initiatives, ensuring a seamless and compliant experience. The position involves collaborating with HR, legal, and external providers to attract and retain top semiconductor talent, navigating challenges in a dynamic global landscape.
Must have:
  • Oversee immigration program, manage specialist, coordinate with talent acquisition, HR, and counsel for visas.
  • Ensure excellent employee experience, timely issue resolution, and compliance with immigration laws.
  • Lead communication and outreach efforts for effective internal information flow.
  • Produce monthly immigration/mobility dashboards, monitor analytics, and develop interventions.
  • Monitor immigration landscape, adapt to legislative changes, and develop strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of immigration requirements, serve as internal subject-matter expert.
  • Program manage USA global mobility, assist with escalations, manage vendor relationships.
  • Serve as US subject matter expert for mobility initiatives from South Korea HQ.
  • Maintain and manage immigration records and reporting in systems.
  • Support direct report, empowering achievements, facilitating self-management, planning growth.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a key leader on the Samsung Semiconductor Total Rewards team, you will manage our U.S. immigration program and support our global mobility initiatives, working closely with HR Business Partners, Legal Counsel, external immigration providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless and compliant immigration and mobility experience.

In this role, you will manage a program that has a significant impact on our business. We are entering an era that will put pressure on our ability to attract and retain the best semiconductor talent in the world, and we need an expert who can help us successfully navigate the challenges ahead.

Location:

Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters office is expected. Our Flexible Work policy will provide opportunities for you to work at your preferred location from time to time to help you achieve balance and optimize productivity

  • Oversee the immigration program, manage and mentor our Immigration Specialist and lead efforts to coordinate seamlessly across our talent acquisition team, HR business partners, and our foreign national employees and their managers in partnership with external immigration counsel to process work visas and visa extensions
  • Deliver an excellent employee experience, ensuring all escalated issues are handled in a timely manner and resolution is well communicated while ensuring compliance with applicable immigration laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Lead communication and outreach efforts to ensure effective information flow to key internal constituents
  • Produce monthly immigration and mobility dashboards and create and monitor analytics that gauge program effectiveness and reveal improvement opportunity areas; develop interventions to address findings
  • Closely monitor the immigration landscape, staying abreast of legislative changes and potential impacts to our program; develop strategies and tactics to adapt to the changing legal environment
  • Maintain current knowledge of immigration requirements and mobility program best practices and serve as an internal subject-matter expert and advisor on local and global mobility programs
  • Program manage our USA global mobility programs and assist with escalation needs as appropriate. Ensure vendor relationship is managed well.

Serve as US subject matter expert for mobility initiatives stemming from Headquarters in South Korea.

  • Maintain and manage immigration records and reporting in local and third-party systems
  • Support your direct report, empowering their achievements, facilitating self-management, developing growth opportunities, and proactively planning for the future.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience managing immigration and mobility program activities with at least 5 years’ experience with US immigration program management.
  • Previous people management experience preferred.
  • Excellent mentoring, problem solving, organizational, analytical, communication and employee service skills with sharp attention to details.
  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, ability to work under pressure with competing demands and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Workday strongly preferred.
  • Paralegal or related experience is preferred.
