Responsibilities include project sourcing, supplier management, purchasing activities, communication, and continuous improvement within the Supply Chain Manager's guidance.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Buyer.
  • Experience working in a project team.
  • Advanced level in English.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of ERP Software, PLM Software, and MS Office.
  • Industry experience related to customer projects (Oil & Gas).

Pentair Industrial Solutions business unit is experiencing significant growth. One of Pentair’s strategic growth pillars is the Biogas area and other carbon capture solutions. The projects will be engineered and produced at our Pentair sites or at an approved supplier. Pentair - Sustainable Gas Solutions (SGS) is specialized within CO₂ recovery solutions and Biogas upgrading solution. Pentair helps its clients to lower their carbon footprint and energy bills, and currently we serve customers in more than 150 countries worldwide. To achieve further growth, we are looking for a:

Project Buyer (m/f/d)

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION


The Project Buyer is responsible for purchasing activities during the execution of customer projects. He ensures that all project-specific materials are available within the specified lead time and within the established project budget. Is already involved in the sales phase from his area of expertise. Assigns purchase orders to pre-selected suppliers based on internal materials strategy, schedule and budget. Coordinates purchasing, monitors deliveries in such a way that the project schedule is met and escalates timely in case of deviations.

Together with the engineering, production and the installation & commissioning team the Project Buyer ensures good quality and timely completion of the project. He is responsible for providing the necessary materials for business project execution, taking part in the development of business strategies and for his own professional & personal development within the team.

The Project Buyer reports to the Supply Chain Manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

•    Project Sourcing: Follow developments on various aspects within the international market areas such as Track price, delivery reliability and profitability; Create a procurement plan for each project; Be responsible for the process of requesting quotations from suppliers (send request for quotation, receive quotation and negotiate) for manufactured parts; Validate project costs and commit to them in relation to the project budget set in the sales phase; Assess the impact of developments and changes on the project schedule in terms of material procurement; inform the internal organization about developments/changes with suppliers and anticipate them in a timely manner, possibly in consultation with the buyer; internal reporting on procurement, delivery times and budget planning of specific projects. Tracking variances in material costs for project specific part numbers and escalating to the project manager as required.
•    Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with (potential) suppliers; Communicate with non-strategic suppliers the supplier performance and NCRs and act when agreed commitments are not met; Be the point of contact from internal organization in case of problems with quality, delivery times and any bottlenecks for a specific project; Manage the Project Purchasing Plan. Update prices of standard components from non-strategic suppliers.

•    Purchasing activities: Align purchasing specifications with (internal) client(s) and ensure that agreed terms and conditions flow through into agreements with suppliers; Select suppliers together with the Commodity Buyer and/or  engineering on the basis of quality and technical requirements; Assess and determine whether (potential) suppliers can meet the technical requirements and assign project requirements; Negotiate purchase orders associated (legal) terms and conditions appropriate within the procurement plan and project budget; Handle orders within signing authority; Administer contracts regarding non-strategic suppliers and manages them in the appropriate systems. Check billing discrepancies and resolves them through the implemented supporting systems.
•    Communication & exchange of information: Exchange of information with the other teams, specialist departments and suppliers (e.g. mechanical engineering & automation, production and installation & commissioning; as well as suppliers); internal and external representation of the project; internal and external reporting; Documentation of agreements reached
•    Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement regarding own work, work procedures and processes within the department and translate these into initiatives aimed at optimization; Contribute to the implementation of improvements within your own area of interest and/or department and ensure assurance, recording, communication and instruction within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES


•    Education on Bachelor or equivalent qualification 
•    Knowledge of tools such as ERP Software, PLM Software, MS Office.
•    At least 5 years' experience as a Project Buyer or in an equivalent role, preferably in an industry related to customer project (Oil & Gas) business.
•    Experiences on working in a project team.
•    Knowledge of relevant guidelines and norms.
•    Advanced level in English
•    Independent, proactive, flexible and determined and resilient to stress.
•    Team-player who enjoys working closely with others and thrives in a team environment.
•    Creative in finding solutions, with a strong commitment to quality. 
•    Good communication skills with a customer-oriented and commercial mind-set. 
•    Analytical and able to maintain an overview of complex processes.
•    Willingness to work internationally (~15%).
