Endava is a technology company with over two decades of experience, partnering with leading brands to create dynamic platforms and intelligent digital experiences. As a Development Lead, you will lead a cross-functional team of engineers, actively participating in the full software development lifecycle. You will drive improvements, collaborate with various stakeholders, and build/maintain the backend tech stack including Python, Airflow, PostgreSQL, and Kafka. The role involves providing architectural direction and working on cross-team topics like continuous deployment and testing.
Must have:
  • Lead a cross-functional team of Frontend, Backend/API, and Quality Assurance engineers
  • Actively participate in the full software development lifecycle
  • Drive improvements across the whole stack
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Data Scientists to expose data through the web application
  • Build and maintain our backend tech stack of Python, Airflow, PostgreSQL, Kafka
  • Provide architectural and design direction, control technical debt, promote collaboration and engagement in the product team
  • Work closely with other Engineering Managers on cross-team topics
  • 8 or more years of software development experience
  • At least 4 years in leadership roles
  • Deep knowledge of Python (3.5 and later)
  • Knowledge of modern front-end technologies and web development fundamentals
  • Experience developing public APIs with OpenAPI specifications and service-level contracts
  • Experience working with map and location libraries (eg. Mapbox)
  • Deep knowledge of testing at all levels, from unit testing to end-to-end

Job Description

Development is the largest discipline at Endava. Our developers design, build, and release software products in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. Always collaborating with cross-functional project teams, our developers are adaptable problem-solvers with a client-oriented mindset.

A Development Consultant understands the technical landscape of IT projects, comprehends the business context and goals, and uses their experience to develop optimal solutions, including technology and design choices. They support the project manager in planning software delivery, articulate the vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and work directly with customers to define solutions.

Responsibilities:

Leda a cross-functional team of Frontend, Backend/API, and Quality Assurance engineers to

deliver against teams' objectives and milestones;

  • Actively participate in the full software development lifecycle from ideation and planning

through to development, testing, customer feedback and further iterations;

  • Drive improvements across the whole stack;
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Data Scientists to expose data through the

web application;

  • Build and maintain our backend tech stack of Python, Airflow, PostgreSQL, Kafka;
  • Provide architectural and design direction, control technical debt, promote collaboration and

engagement in the product team;

  • Work closely with other Engineering Managers on cross-team topics such as continuous

deployment, improving our testing and monitoring, front-end user logging, etc.

Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of software development experience, with at least 4 years in leadership roles;
  • Bachelor’s or master’s, preferably in computer science or related field
  • Strong agile mindset, able to iterate fast and give early feedback
  • On top of technical abilities, excellent leadership, decision making and strong communication

skills in verbal and written English

  • Deep knowledge of Python (3.5 and later)
  • Knowledge of modern front-end technologies and web development fundamentals
  • Experience developing public APIs with OpenAPI specifications and service-level contracts
  • Experience working with map and location libraries (eg. Mapbox)
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring and growing team members.
  • Deep knowledge of testing at all levels, from unit testing to end-to-end
