Job Summary
Silvus Technologies, a part of Motorola Solutions, is seeking a Quality Engineer I to ensure product quality for StreamCaster MANET products. This role involves conducting acceptance testing, refining test plans, leading failure analysis, and collaborating with engineering teams. The engineer will drive continuous improvement, review documentation, and support quality assurance and control. This onsite position in West Los Angeles focuses on maintaining high standards across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems.
Must Have
- Conduct acceptance testing and validation on PCBs, assemblies, components in Linux.
- Refine test plans, test station design, and qualification procedures for reliability.
- Lead failure analysis to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering to establish inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement projects for yield, defect reduction, process efficiency.
- Review and interpret engineering documentation, including blueprints, drawings, schematics.
- Prepare and review inspection reports and first article documentation.
- Maintain and improve Quality Assurance and Quality Control documentation.
- Partner with design engineering for DFM and DFR feedback loops.
- Train and mentor junior quality staff on inspection and analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in quality or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience with inspection tools: multi-meters, calipers, micrometers, microscopes.
- Hands-on experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Analyze data, identify trends, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Strong knowledge of schematics and technical documentation, especially PCBs and PWAs.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for cross-discipline collaboration.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Good to Have
- Exposure to AS9100, ISO 9001, or other regulated quality systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Familiarity with soldering, PCB manufacturing, or RF systems.
- IPC Certification.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The company is seeking a full-time individual who will report to the Director of Quality. The successful individual in this role will provide engineering-level support to ensure product quality across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems for StreamCaster MANET products. This role focuses on higher-level quality engineering activities including root cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to uphold company-wide quality standards.
This position is fully onsite, Monday through Friday at HQ in the heart of vibrant.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct acceptance testing and validation on first article PCBs, assemblies, and components in a Linux-based environment.
- Support and refine test plans, test station design, and qualification procedures for long-term reliability.
- Lead failure analysis investigations to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering to establish inspection criteria and acceptance standards for components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
- Drive continuous improvement projects targeting yield enhancement, defect reduction, and process efficiency.
- Review and interpret engineering documentation including blueprints, drawings, and schematics, ensuring alignment with quality standards.
- Prepare and review inspection reports, first article documentation, and associated records for completeness and accuracy.
- Interface with operations leadership to maintain and improve Quality Assurance and Quality Control documentation.
- Partner with design engineering to implement design-for-manufacturability and design-for-reliability feedback loops.
- Train and mentor junior quality staff on inspection techniques, documentation practices, and root cause analysis.
- As necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of professional experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience with inspection tools (e.g., multi-meters, calipers, micrometers, microscopes).
- Hands-on experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations for corrective/preventive actions.
- Strong knowledge of schematics and technical documentation, particularly PCBs and PWAs.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with quality management software a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- NOTE - Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
