Responsibilities & Opportunities
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Sand Dryer Operator to join our manufacturing team at our new facility. This role is responsible for the timely execution of daily production requirements while achieving safety, housekeeping, quality and rate objectives. The Operator also participates in routine quality testing and continuous improvement activities as directed. The Operator must be able to work independently within the framework of a team while demonstrating a positive attitude. Ability to drive a loader and rail car.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and comply with all Sika safety, site security and environmental policies.
- Ensure traffic rules and the safety procedures are strictly followed.
- Achieve established housekeeping objectives adhering to established best practices and ensuring work areas are maintained and left in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Execute production processes according to established quality guidelines while reporting process variations in a timely fashion.
- Manage the drying process according to the automated control system. ( Adjust temperature, airflow, and other controls to maintain optimal drying conditions.)
- Understand and attain the daily production schedule.
- Report and record the drying activities and volumes for sand reception and sand consumptions.
- Ensure that production processes achieve optimum rate-of-output.
- Ensure proper set-up of materials and good operating condition of the equipment prior to executing batch making processes and to assist as directed with the set-up for incoming shifts.
- Work with QC LAB and Supply Chain to ensure proper truck and rail car reception and silo filling.
- Execute production changeovers and sand processing activities related with the planning as directed by the Production Supervisor / Manager.
- Operate and maintain equipment according to best practices and assist in preventive maintenance activities and troubleshooting as needed.
- Report malfunctions or safety concerns to Supervisor/ EHS Manager.
- Work with a positive attitude and as a team towards a common goal.
- Guide, assist and train new and temporary employees.
- Lead, participate or support continuous improvement activities as directed by Management.
- Execute other projects or activities to-be-determined as directed by Management.
Salary Range: $22 - $24 an hour based on education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.
Preferred Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training is a plus).
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment; experience with drying equipment preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, and moisture testing instruments.
- Understanding of safety standards in a manufacturing environment (e.g., lockout/tagout, PPE usage).
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in hot, dusty, and noisy environments.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Forklift or front-end loader certification.
- Experience in dry mortar or aggregate processing industries.
- Familiarity with SCADA or automated control systems.
