PayPal is seeking a Senior Accountant to revolutionize commerce globally. This role involves initiating accounting processes, monitoring the closing process, and posting journal entries to ensure accurate financial statements. The Senior Accountant will prepare reports, participate in financial statement preparation, support reconciliations, and drive process control rigor for quarterly financial certifications. Key responsibilities include focusing on investments (AFS Debt Securities, Time Deposits), and Collateral Management, ensuring financial statements meet local GAAP, supporting regulatory obligations, implementing monthly financial reports and analytics, and facilitating month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities. Experience with US GAAP and financial systems like SAP, Clearwater, and Blackline is preferred.
Must have:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

Job Summary:

This job initiates accounting processes to ensure accurate financial statements by monitoring the closing process, and posting journal entries. You’ll prepare reports and participate in the preparation of financial statements. Additionally, you’ll support the organization in preparing reconciliations, and drive process control rigor to support quarterly financial certifications. You will focus on investments (AFS Debt Securities, Time Deposits), and Collateral Management.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Initiate accounting processes to ensure financial statements meet local GAAP
  • Monitor the accounting closing process and post journal entries for any required adjustments in the local ledger
  • Support the organization in meeting local and global regulatory obligations
  • Drive process control rigor to support quarterly certification on financials
  • Implement monthly financial reports and analytics to support structured risk-based monthly financial reviews
  • Implement statutory financial statements and ensure timely completion of statutory audits
  • Facilitate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close activities
  • Review and prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, roll-forwards, and month-end reporting packages

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Proven track record executing monthly accounting close activities, reconciliations, reporting, and journal entry preparation and review.
  • Finance systems knowledge and experience with SAP, or similar ERP system, Clearwater, Blackline, and Excel.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience; practical experience with US GAAP (investments related financial accounting guidance including ASC 320)
  • Strong desire to learn or expand your knowledge of systems implementations, process improvements, and ongoing management.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $84,500 to $140,250
