Claris, an Apple company, is seeking a Senior AI Agent Engineer to design and develop scalable backend infrastructure for intelligent, autonomous workflows. This role involves architecting resilient systems for multi-agent coordination, context-aware task execution, and integration with internal/third-party services. The engineer will drive real-time orchestration of agents interacting with data, APIs, and users, enabling smarter applications. Success requires strong programming and deep knowledge of agent architectures, orchestration frameworks, and modern AI toolchains.
Must have:
  • Own the design and development of scalable backend infrastructure that powers intelligent, autonomous workflows.
  • Architect and implement resilient systems that support multi-agent coordination, context-aware task execution, and seamless integration with internal and third-party services.
  • Drive the real-time orchestration of agents that interact with data, APIs, and users.
  • Define modular agent architectures.
  • Integrate state-of-the-art foundation models (LLMs and beyond).
  • Embed advanced AI capabilities deep within the Claris platform.
  • Champion ethical AI practices—advocating for fairness, transparency, and user trust.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 2-3 years experience with a focus on AI systems or intelligent agents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, or Go.
  • Solid understanding of AI infrastructure, architectures, and tooling.
Good to have:
  • Hands-on experience building agents using Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agent frameworks.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud, and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing and implementing workflow orchestration and execution systems.
  • Familiarity with document and graph data storage technologies like MongoDB or KuzuDB.
  • Understanding of AI memory systems, including contextual embeddings and long-term memory management.
  • Experience with LangMem or LangGraph.
  • Awareness of ethical AI principles, particularly around user privacy, data security, and responsible model integration.

We are looking for a Senior AI Agent Engineer to own the design and development of scalable backend infrastructure that powers intelligent, autonomous workflows. In this role, you’ll architect and implement resilient systems that support multi-agent coordination, context-aware task execution, and seamless integration with internal and third-party services.

Your leadership will drive the real-time orchestration of agents that interact with data, APIs, and users—unlocking smarter, faster, and more adaptive applications at scale. Success in this role requires strong programming proficiency, along with deep knowledge of agent architectures, orchestration frameworks, and modern AI toolchains.

  • You’ll play a pivotal role in defining modular agent architectures

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
