Job Description

Playwing is looking for an experienced Senior Animator to infuse rhythm, character, and intensity into characters and creatures for their next fighting game. You will contribute to creating impactful combat choreographies and transforming every action into a memorable moment. You will design and refine key animations that define the quality, dynamism, and personality of the gameplay, working within a creative and ambitious team.

  • Work with the art director and animation team, integrating creative and technical feedback.
  • Provide expert oversight on the quality, consistency, and fluidity of all animations.

Job Description

As part of the development of our next title, we are looking for an experienced senior animator, capable of infusing rhythm, character, and intensity into our fighting game characters and creatures. You will contribute to creating impactful combat choreographies and transforming every action into a memorable moment.

You will intervene at the heart of production to design and refine the key animations that will define the quality, dynamism, and personality of the gameplay. Your sense of movement, impact, and rhythm will directly contribute to the visual identity and game experience. Join a creative and ambitious team, where your expertise will have a direct impact on the game experience.

Your missions:

  • Create and refine character and creature animations (combat, special moves, locomotion), using keyframe and motion capture.
  • Research and propose new ideas for actions, strong moments, characterization, and combat choreographies.
  • Actively participate in defining the game's animation style.
  • Collaborate closely with gameplay designers and programmers.
  • Work with the art director and the animation team, integrating creative and technical feedback.
  • Provide expert oversight on the quality, consistency, and fluidity of all animations.

Profile sought

  • Confirmed experience (5+ years) in animation for 3rd person action games or fighting games.
  • Solid experience in gameplay animation.
  • Proficiency in keyframe animations and proven experience in motion capture.
  • Excellent understanding of body, weight, rhythm, and timing.
  • Proficiency in an animation tool (Maya preferred) and Unreal Engine 5.
  • Curious, creative, rigorous, and proactive mindset.
  • You enjoy fantastic and horror universes.
  • Rigging/skinning skills would be a plus.

Additional Information

Hybrid CDI position, mainly at the studio in Bordeaux.

Position to be filled as soon as possible.
