As a Senior Application Engineer in the EMEA Momentum Team at Ansys, you will enable channel partners across Europe to sell, support, and grow the Fluids business. You will use your deep technical expertise in fluids simulation to support partners through enablement initiatives, technical forums, customer co-engagements, and one-on-one mentoring. Your goal is to elevate partner technical capabilities and help them unlock growth opportunities with Ansys Fluids solutions, combining technical pre-sales, partner enablement, and thought leadership.
Must have:
  • Lead and coordinate technical activities for Fluids channel partners in EMEA.
  • Identify fluids growth areas and organize enablement activities.
  • Host 'technical coffee breaks' to foster relationships.
  • Support channel partner customer engagements and provide second-line technical support.
  • Mentor and upskill partner technical teams in fluids portfolio.
  • Deliver professional services, training, and methodology guidance.
  • Support development of fluids simulation solutions and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Ansys product development for feedback.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts for fluids applications.
  • BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFD and fluids simulation (e.g., Ansys Fluent, CFX, Rocky).
  • BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0 years of experience in engineering software.
  • Experience in technical enablement, customer support, pre-sales, or consulting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; English fluency.
  • Ability to work independently, manage stakeholders, travel up to 25%.
Good to have:
  • 8+ years of professional experience with BS, 6+ with MS, or 3+ with PhD.
  • Experience working with or within channel partner networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting.
  • Ability to present technical content to expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Experience in identifying and growing business opportunities in simulation software.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to influence.

Summary / Role Purpose

As a Senior Application Engineer in the EMEA Momentum Team, you will play a vital role in enabling our channel partners across Europe to sell, support, and grow our Fluids business. You will leverage your deep technical expertise in fluids simulation to support partners through enablement initiatives, informal technical forums, customer co-engagements, and one-on-one mentoring. Your goal is to elevate the technical capabilities of our partners and help them unlock growth opportunities with Ansys Fluids solutions.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technical pre-sales, partner enablement, and thought leadership in a dynamic, collaborative environment. As part of the EMEA ACE (Application Engineering) team, you will help ensure the success of our partners and customers, contribute to Ansys' growth, and shape the future of simulation across the region.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all technical activities related to enabling channel partners in the Fluids discipline across the EMEA region.
  • Identify high-potential areas for fluids growth and organize one-to-many enablement activities such as technical webinars, workshops, and virtual training sessions by coordinating with subject matter experts.
  • Host and support regular 'technical coffee breaks'—informal drop-in sessions that foster trust-based technical relationships and identify follow-up opportunities.
  • Support channel partner customer engagements through second-line technical support and co-engagement to demonstrate the value of Ansys Fluids solutions.
  • Mentor and upskill partner technical teams in key areas of the fluids portfolio through tailored enablement and joint planning.
  • Deliver professional services, training, and methodology guidance to ensure partner productivity and customer success.
  • Support the development of compelling fluids simulation solutions and workflows using Ansys products and platforms.
  • Collaborate with Ansys product development teams to provide feedback and help shape future capabilities based on partner and customer input.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts by contributing content, presenting at events, and authoring materials relevant to fluids applications.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFD and fluids simulation (e.g., Ansys Fluent, CFX, Rocky, or other relevant tools).
  • BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0 years of experience in a relevant engineering software environment.
  • Experience in technical enablement, customer support, pre-sales, or consulting roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English; other European languages a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple stakeholders, and travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • 8+ years of professional experience with BS degree, or 6+ years with MS, or 3+ years with PhD.
  • Experience working with or within channel partner networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software.
  • Ability to present technical content to both expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Experience in identifying and growing business opportunities in simulation software.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, and ability to influence without authority.
