The Senior Benefits and Leaves Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits, managing leave programs, and providing expert guidance to employees and management. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the company's total rewards strategy.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $60k - $65k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness plans.
- Manage leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, and other statutory leaves.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on employee benefits and leaves policies, ensuring accurate interpretation and application.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding benefits and leave options, procedures, and compliance.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, insurance carriers, and government agencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of leave credits, benefits enrollment, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct training sessions and communications to increase awareness of benefits offerings and leave options.
- Stay informed on industry best practices, legislative changes, and emerging trends related to employee benefits and leaves.
- Assist in audits and reporting related to benefits and leave programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and/or at least 5 years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, or a related HR function.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state leave regulations (FMLA, ADA, Paid Leave Laws, etc.).
- Familiarity with benefits administration systems and HRIS platforms.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Experience with benefits vendors and insurance providers.
- Project management skills.
- HR Certification (PHR, HRCI, etc).
- Basic knowledge of Canadian benefits a plus.
