Job Summary

Wolters Kluwer is seeking a Senior Controlling Analyst for their Finance and Controlling team in Gothenburg, Sweden. This role focuses on planning, forecasting, analysis, and business support, with a strong emphasis on cost-side controlling and collaboration with the software development organization (DXG). The analyst will own month-end processes, lead forecasting, act as a finance partner, and contribute to reporting and system improvements, including digital transformation initiatives. The position requires strong analytical skills, ownership of financial processes, and the ability to build relationships in a matrix environment.

Must Have

  • Own the month-end process for your areas, including reporting, reconciliations, time-writing reviews and KPI updates
  • Lead forecasting and annual planning for assigned business areas
  • Prepare variance analyses and identify performance drivers with actionable insights
  • Support investment planning, business cases, CapEx reviews and project portfolio analysis
  • Act as a finance partner for leaders in software development and operational teams
  • Work closely with DXG leadership on planning, resource allocation, project prioritisation and cost follow-up
  • Present financial performance clearly and pragmatically for operational decision-making
  • Balance local needs with regional and group requirements in a matrix organisation
  • KPIs and management reporting for your areas
  • Use Tagetik, SAP, Excel and Power BI to analyse cost trends and development metrics
  • Support improvements in reporting structure, data quality and planning models
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and external reporting requirements
  • Support audit processes with accurate documentation and clarification
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in reporting, planning and data processes
  • Participate in finance system initiatives
  • Take part in cross-functional or ad hoc activities that arise in a small, hands-on finance team
  • Experience in FP&A, business controlling or financial analysis
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost follow-up
  • Very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Clear and collaborative communicator
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities and matrix interactions
  • Able to work with senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
  • Structured, reliable and thorough in execution
  • Hands-on attitude
  • Proficiency in English

  • Experience with Tagetik or other corporate performance management tools (e.g., HFM, PBCS)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Controlling Analyst to strengthen our Finance and Controlling team in Gothenburg. Your work will primarily focus on Sweden, while also connecting with colleagues across Scandinavia, Region North, Europe, and selected global functions.

You will work in a small team where responsibilities are clear, but flexibility is essential. Most of your work will sit within planning, forecasting, analysis and business support — with a concentration on cost-side controlling and close collaboration with DXG, our software development organisation as well as other stakeholders. You will also occasionally support tasks outside your core remit to keep processes running smoothly.

The role suits someone who enjoys ownership over recurring financial processes, builds strong relationships with the business, and thrives in a matrix environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to reporting and system improvements, including participating in our ongoing digital transformation and future S/4HANA migration.

Key Responsibilities

Month End, Forecasting and Planning:

  • Own the month-end process for your areas, including reporting, reconciliations, time-writing reviews and KPI updates
  • Lead forecasting and annual planning for your assigned business areas, working closely with FP&A and DXG etc.
  • Prepare variance analyses and identify performance drivers with actionable insights

Your Profile

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in FP&A, business controlling or financial analysis within an international or matrix environment
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to move from reporting into meaningful insights
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost follow-up
  • Very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Tagetik or other corporate performance management tools (e.g., HFM, PBCS) is an advantage
  • Basic SAP experience or willingness to learn it quickly (primarily for data extraction and review)
  • Experience with Power BI is helpful
