Job Description

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for supporting and optimizing the performance of a variety of database technologies, including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, and Snowflake. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, and operating MSSQL database systems, monitoring and optimizing performance, designing and implementing backup, recovery, and security strategies, and proficiency in database programming languages. The role involves collaboration with development teams, automation of routine procedures, and requires strong communication and organizational skills. The candidate will work in a fast-growing, international environment and contribute to the company's growth.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of Database Administration experience.
  • Relevant certifications in database administration.
  • Experience with query performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Good communication, teamworking & organization skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience with other database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake).
  • Experience with cloud hosted PaaS database solutions, particularly on Microsoft Azure.
  • Scripting skills to automate tasks, such as with Python, Bash or PowerShell.

SimCorp is experiencing a substantial increase in business globally and to support our growth we are looking for a Database Administrator in Mexico City. In this key role you will support our suite of Database products and liaise with all our development and operations teams across the world to optimize their performance to support our client requirements.

What you will be responsible for:  

The Database Administrator role would be part of a small, specialized DBA team within the Analytics business at Simcorp, overseeing the support and performance of a varied database technology landscape including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, and Snowflake.

In practice this role would entail:

  • Install, configure, and operate MSSQL database systems, including a familiarity with Always On and failover configurations configuration

  • Monitor and optimize performance, including query performance analysis and tuning, working in collaboration with development teams providing recommendations to optimise performance

  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and security strategies

  • Proficiency in database programming languages (SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL), as well as SQL Server DacPac deployments

  • Script and automate routine procedures, with appropriate error handling and alerting

What we value: 

  • A degree in computer science/engineering discipline. 

  • 3+ years of experience with Database Administration, including query performance tuning and monitoring tools

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle OCA)

  • Experience with other database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake

  • Experience with cloud hosted PaaS database solutions, particularly on Microsoft Azure

  • Scripting skills to automate tasks, such as with Python, Bash or PowerShell

  • Good communication, teamworking & organization skills

  • You have well-developed analytical skills and are used to working in a structured way
