Job Description

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for DevOps activities for software products and supporting systems. The role involves using advanced technical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex issues, support smaller development teams, and enhance product security. The engineer will collaborate with developers and testers to provide build and deployment services, investigate methods to improve product security and stability, and perform debugging and testing. They will also work on build and packaging open-source third-party software packages and maintain tools and infrastructure.
Must have:
  • 5 years experience with BS or 3 years with MS or 1 year with PhD.
  • High proficiency in Java, C++, C#, and Python
  • Experience with Windows bat and PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of Bash scripting, package management, and compiler tools
  • Experience with Windows and Unix system administration
  • Hands-on experience with artifact repositories and package managers
  • Experience with build and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub
  • Highly motivated with a willingness to learn
Good to have:
  • Experience in Rocky, Red Hat, or CentOS environments.
  • Hands-on experience with SAST tools
  • Hands-on experience with SCA tools
  • Solid understanding of Windows and virtualization
  • Familiarity with Docker for Linux-based virtualization
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet
  • Cloud APIs such as AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with VDIs and Windows Server
  • Familiarity with Windows Virtualization
  • Hands-on experience in creation and deployment of containers

SUMMARY 

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the DevOps activities of one or more software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Senior DevOps Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, support the overall productivity of smaller development teams, and enhance the security posture of their products. The candidate will work hands-on with developers and testers to provide build and deployment services for the Ansys products and investigate methods to improve product security and stability. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with others to brainstorm best techniques to resolve complex technological infrastructure, build or packaging problems
  • Performs moderately complex debug and testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered 
  • Responsibilities may involve build and packaging open-source third-party software packages
  • Maintenance of tools, infrastructure and build environment for product creation staff 
  • Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Computer Science or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience
  • High proficiency in Java, C++ (Visual Studio and gcc/g++ on Unix), C#, and Python
  • Experience with Windows bat and PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of Bash scripting, package management tools (apt, yum, dnf), and compiler tools (make, CMake, ant).
  • Experience with Windows and Unix system administration
  • Hands-on experience with artifact repositories and package manager such as JFrog artifactory repository, Conan
  • Experience setting up and managing builds and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Highly motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies and make architectural decisions
  • Strong team player who thrives in an open and collaborative environment and is committed to meeting team goals  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Rocky, Red Hat, or CentOS environments. 
  • Hands-on experience with Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools such as Coverity and SonarQube
  • Hands-on experience with Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tools such as FNCI
  • Solid understanding of Windows and virtualization
  • Familiarity with Docker for Linux-based virtualization.
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet
  • Cloud APIs such as AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with VDIs and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and bat or PowerShell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Windows Virtualization (Hyper-V, VM or Azure Virtual Machines).
  • Hands-on experience in creation and deployment of containers
