Job Description

We are revitalizing this source of breaking news, entertainment, culture, wellness, sports, and finance. The Curation team seeks a dynamic, news-obsessed Senior Editor to shape content for millions of Yahoo users on weekends. This high-impact role involves programming original journalism and partner content across platforms. It requires expert breaking news judgment, compelling headline craftsmanship, strong attention to detail, and knowledge of journalistic standards and ethics. Communication and organization are critical for success.
Good To Have:
  • At least 5+ years of editorial experience writing or content programming on high-traffic websites.
  • Thursday-Monday schedule, working on both Saturdays and Sundays, covering evening into overnight hours Eastern Time.
  • Familiarity and experience with complex web content management systems, information architecture and metadata.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of professionalism over email, online meetings and in person.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Enterprise suite of tools, AP style, copy-editing.

  • Support breaking news coverage across desktop, mobile, email, and app platforms.
  • Support special projects for development and growth, including new module programming and collaboration with teams.

  • Closely track content metrics and analytics to stay abreast of evolving interests.
  • Manage relationships with important publishers and content partners as needed.

The Curation team is seeking a dynamic and news-obsessed Senior Editor to join our team to lead, support and help shape the stories watched and read daily by tens of millions of Yahoo users across our desktop and mobile websites on the weekends.. The high-impact Curation team programs Yahoo’s top-notch original journalism and our broad network of best-in-class content partners across our homepage, app and site. As such, this role requires expert breaking news judgment, compelling headline craftsmanship, strong attention to detail and knowledge of journalistic standards and ethics. Communication and organization are critical to success in this role. Responsibilities:

  • Program the news of the day and other content on Yahoo.com, including curation and selection, headline writing, image selection, app distribution and more as needed including video and commerce curation potentially.
  • Support breaking news coverage across a variety of platforms including desktop, mobile, email, app, etc.
  • Support special projects associated with development and growth, including new module programming, collaborating with editorial, product and other teams.
  • Help execute coverage plans for tentpole events across a variety of content categories, including News, Entertainment, Sports and more.
  • Closely track metrics and analytics of content to stay abreast of evolving interests across our ecosystem
  • Manage relationships with important publishers and content partners as needed.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of editorial experience writing or content programming on high-traffic websites.
