Senior Engineer

VMware by Broadcom is seeking a Senior Engineer for its Security Services Platform (SSP) team within the Application Networking and Security (ANS) division. This role involves building a highly scalable, auto-recovering, and fault-tolerant distributed analytics platform for advanced security solutions. The engineer will contribute to the lifecycle management of Kubernetes clusters, improve performance and stability for big data applications, and collaborate on high-quality solutions using technologies like Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, and Golang.

Must Have

• Contribute to LCM of scalable Kubernetes cluster, backup & restore, upgrade, AAA, trust management, monitoring and diagnostics
• Analyze and improve performance, scalability, and stability of SSP
• Collaborate effectively with other engineers and researchers
• Understand customer needs and craft high quality solutions
• Set and meet high standards for design and code quality

• Deep working knowledge/expertise in at least one of Java or Golang
• Background in Relational Databases and NOSQL Databases
• Experience with Spring and SpringBoot
• Experience with Kubernetes, Envoy, Kafka, Postgres

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• You will contribute to key pieces of SSP, including but not limited to the LCM of a scalable Kubernetes cluster, backup & restore, upgrade, AAA, trust management, monitoring and diagnostics.
• You will analyze and improve performance, scalability, and stability of SSP when hosting big data applications that ingest and process terabytes of data.
• You will collaborate effectively with other engineers and researchers to solve complex problems.

The hiring manager for this role is Kapil Goyal, ANS Business Unit. He leads the SSP charter for the VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) Product in ANSBU that is responsible for security policy management, analytics, and compliance with data center–wide visibility.
