Job Description

Morningstar's Financial Planning and Analysis team seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to support Morningstar’s largest business unit, Direct Platform. This role will focus on providing data driven insights to the global Data & Analytics and Technology organizations as well as revenue management of certain product areas. In addition, you will gain extensive experience with financial systems and reporting, build relationships with senior management, and work on special projects as necessary.
Must have:
  • Complete ownership of financial planning, reporting, and budgeting for Direct Platform products.
  • Effectively interact with business and sales stakeholders for budget and forecast.
  • Lead monthly reporting by analyzing data and providing insights.
  • Work closely with HR and business leaders to set and update salary targets.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and support special projects.
  • Collaborate with global team members for FP&A process consistency and efficiency.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining internal financial reporting packages.
  • Present financial results to group heads monthly.
  • Partner with business group colleagues for better business insight.
  • Identify and implement improvements in business processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams for process improvements.

The Group:

Morningstar’s Financial Planning and Analysis team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company’s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups as well as the corporate functions to support our strategy and growth initiatives and help make informed business decisions to create value.

The Role:

Morningstar`s Financial Planning and Analysis team seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to support Morningstar’s largest business unit, Direct Platform. This role will focus on providing data driven insights to the global Data & Analytics and Technology organizations as well as revenue management of certain product areas. In addition, you will gain extensive experience with financial systems and reporting, build relationships with senior management, and work on special projects as necessary. This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete ownership of the financial planning, reporting and budgeting process for products within the Direct Platform group.
  • Effectively interact with business and sales stakeholders to help lead budget, planning and forecast formulation and execution.
  • Leads monthly reporting by gathering and analyzing data, actual/projections variances and providing information with insights.
  • Work closely with our HR function and business leaders to set, maintain and update salary target levels for products you would support.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and provide support on special projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with global team members to bring consistency and efficiency in FP&A processes.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining internal financial reporting packages and materials for meetings.Present financial results to group heads on a monthly basis.
  • Partner with our business group colleagues to help them gain better insight into their business.Identify and implement improvement in business processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams formed to address business process improvements in the financial planning & budgeted processes.

Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in a financial planning and analysis and/or accounting-related position with a bachelor’s degree; CPA/MBA a plus.
  • Candidates should be excellent communicators, detail-oriented and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player with demonstrated relationship building skills who will roll up his or her sleeves to get the job done.
  • Solid Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required; knowledge of Hyperion and Oracle preferred.

Total Cash Compensation Range

$92,525.00 - 157,275.00 USD Annual

Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
