Job Description

Lighthouse Games, a new AAA studio in Leamington Spa, is seeking a Senior Game Designer. This role involves working within a talented design team to create innovative feature, gameplay, and system designs to the highest standards. The designer will be proactive in maintaining communication within the design team and across other studio teams, contributing to a collaborative culture. The position requires a minimum of 2-3 days a week in the studio.
Good To Have:
  • Experience in Unreal Engine
  • Experience mentoring other designers
  • Experience working on current generation consoles
Must Have:
  • Produce detailed feature and system designs to the highest quality.
  • Maintain and iterate on designs based on feedback.
  • Utilize in-engine tools for gameplay examples and concepts.
  • Mentor junior design team members.
  • Develop good communication with implementation teams.
  • Commercial experience in design roles, ideally on AAA console or PC titles.
  • High experience in creating feature and systems design documentation and prototype specifications.
  • High knowledge of the current games market.
  • Real passion for games.
  • Effective and comfortable communicator.

As we build our collaborative culture, we feel the studio is best suited to someone who is happy to work a minimum of 2-3 days a week in the studio.

Key Duties Include

  • Work within a talented, multi-discipline design team and produce detailed feature and system designs to the highest possible quality.
  • Maintain and iterate on those designs, based upon feedback and the changing nature of the production process.
  • Utilize in-engine tools to produce gameplay examples and concepts.
  • Act as a mentor and example of quality to the junior members of the design team.
  • Be pro-active in developing good lines of communication with team members responsible for the implementation of features and systems.

Requirements

------------

  • Commercial experience in design roles working, ideally working on AAA console or PC titles.
  • A high level of experience in the creation of feature and systems design documentation and prototype specifications.
  • High level of knowledge of the current games market and a real passion for games.
  • Effective and comfortable communicator.

Desirable

  • Experience in Unreal Engine
