Job Description

Seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of automated End-of-Line Testers (EOLT) for automotive electronic products. This role involves technical project execution, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting production lines to ensure quality and efficiency. The candidate will be a key technical expert, assisting the Test Manager in driving innovation and ensuring robust manufacturing test solutions for interior switches, microphones, speakers, TCU, TAS/TOS.
Good To Have:
  • Experience testing RF communication systems (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS) and RF test equipment.
  • Experience with audio and acoustic testing and related equipment (Audio Precision, Listen).
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems (Keyence, Basler) for automated inspection.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens, Omron) for machine control integration.
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, or C#.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tools for process control (SPC, Gage R&R, Cpk).
Must Have:
  • Lead new EOLT projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements.
  • Develop project timelines and manage resources.

  • Architect robust EOLT hardware and software solutions.
  • Design test fixtures and select instrumentation.
  • Develop, debug, and validate test sequences using NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Perform TDC tool checks during DFT Design Review.
  • Integrate various test technologies: electrical, communication (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS), audio/acoustic, RF, vision inspection.
  • Analyze test cases and failures, propose actions.
  • Perform validation, capabilities, test coverage, and stability performance of testers.
  • Support transition of new processes into serial production.
  • Act as primary technical escalation point for EOLT troubleshooting.
  • Analyze test data, yield reports, and failure trends.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize EOLT systems.
  • Manage changes, updates, and upgrades to EOLT software and hardware.
  • Monitor testing TLR, analyze defects, and propose action plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Contribute to development of test engineering standards.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrument, or Computer Engineering.
  • 5-7 years hands-on experience in automated test equipment (ATE/EOLT) design and development.
  • Strong proficiency in NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN).
  • Hands-on experience with standard test and measurement instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Test Development Engineer to join our dynamic Test Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and implementation of automated End-of-Line Testers (EOLT) for our automotive electronic products, including interior switches, microphones, speakers, TCU (Telematics Control Unit) and TAS/TOS.

This senior role involves not only hands-on technical project execution but also mentoring junior engineers and providing crucial support to our production lines to ensure the highest levels of quality and efficiency. You will be a key technical expert, assisting the Test Manager in driving innovation and ensuring the robustness of our manufacturing test solutions.

Key Responsibilities

EOLT Project Leadership & Management:

  • Analyze customer requirements, legal regulations and internal specification to be applied in Testing strategies of products
  • Lead new EOLT projects from the concept and requirements phase through to design, deployment, and final commissioning on the production floor
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Product Design, Quality, and Production) to define comprehensive test requirements and specifications
  • Develop project timelines, manage resources, and oversee external vendors or system integrators to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior test engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

Test System Design, Development, Validation:

  • Work with key supplier's or internal team to develop EOLT specifications for new equipment's (Hardware & Software)
  • Architect robust and scalable EOLT hardware and software solutions for complex mechatronic and electronic modules
  • Design test fixtures, select appropriate instrumentation (e.g., DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, audio analyzers, RF testers, vision systems), and review the electrical/mechanical schematics
  • Develop, debug, and validate test sequences and software, primarily using NI LabVIEW and TestStand
  • Perform TDC (Test Design Checker ) tool to checks Test Methodology/Coverage during DFT (Design For Test) Design Review, with R&D interaction
  • Integrate various test technologies, including:
  • Electrical Tests: Voltage, current, resistance, continuity.
  • Communication: CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS diagnostics.
  • Audio/Acoustic Tests: Frequency response, Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) for microphones and speakers
  • RF Tests: Cellular (4G/5G), GNSS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth for TCUs
  • Vision Inspection: Presence/absence of components, LED color and intensity verification
  • Analyze test cases and failure, providing scenarios and proposing actions based on results
  • Perform validation, capabilities, test coverage and stability performance of testers
  • Validate PG RAISE and CdC standards which are created by M/D Standard Owners
  • Validate any change of standard propose by sites in new investments for Testing equipment's
  • Validate the assembly line included on each CAA, in concept, cycle time and investment values
  • Contribute to product & process FMEA, assisting Testing technicians in daily activities

Production Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Support transition of newly developed processes into serial production, providing process / equipment specification and qualification
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex EOLT troubleshooting and downtime events in production
  • Analyze test data, yield reports, and failure trends to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Lead initiatives to optimize existing EOLT systems for improved cycle time, stability, and measurement capability (e.g., performing Gage R&R studies)
  • Manage changes, updates, and upgrades to EOLT software and hardware for new product variants or engineering change orders
  • Monitor testing TLR, analyze defects, and propose action plans to reduce
  • Perform survey of equipment in continuous improvement & cost reduction mindset to optimize investments, material & labor costs

Documentation & Standardization:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including test specifications, system architecture diagrams, schematics, validation reports, and user manuals
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of test engineering standards and best practices within the department
  • Promote the Valeo Industrial standard rules and procedures
  • Ensure the respect of Safety and Environment procedures of Valeo Group

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrument Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in automated test equipment (ATE/EOLT) design and development, preferably within the automotive or electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Strong proficiency in NI LabVIEW and TestStand development environments (Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) or higher is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols, especially CAN and LIN
  • Hands-on experience with standard test and measurement instrumentation
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor others.
  • Highly Desirable (Preferred):
  • Experience in testing RF communication systems (e.g., Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS) and familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g., Vector Signal Analyzer/Generator)
  • Experience with audio and acoustic testing and related equipment (e.g., Audio Precision, Listen)
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Basler) for automated inspection
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens, Omron ) for machine control integration
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, or C# would be an asset
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tools for process control (SPC, Gage R&R, Cpk)
