At PwC, the Contracting Center of Excellence (CCOE) supports procurement and client contracts, providing strategic advice on creation, negotiation, and interpretation. As a Senior Legal Counsel (Director), you will lead high-value negotiations for complex international contracts, ensuring timely execution and effective risk mitigation. You'll draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, provide legal support, and advise on new services and regulatory compliance. The role involves monitoring legislative developments, advocating for technological innovation, overseeing external counsel, and mentoring junior colleagues, fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Must have:
  • Lead high-value negotiations for complex, multi-territory, and international contracts.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad spectrum of contracts.
  • Address inquiries related to contract interpretation and compliance efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners, applying practical strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for internal stakeholders regarding legal considerations.
  • Deliver strategic guidance related to Network policies; monitor legislative developments.
  • Uphold an operational excellence approach and advocate for technological innovation.
  • Oversee and coordinate with external legal counsel.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Possess a Law Degree (LLB/JD) and maintain active membership in good standing with a Canadian bar association.
  • Require fluency in English.
  • Extensive senior-level legal experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing very complex contracts independently.
  • Highly responsive and client-centric attitude.
  • Business-minded with a practical mindset, solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong work ethic and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and competing priorities in a demanding work environment.

Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our Contracting Center of Excellence (CCOE), a pillar of the Office of the General Counsel, is tasked with supporting the creation of procurement and client contracts on behalf of the firm. Our team is committed to driving successful business outcomes by delivering effective and strategic advice around contract creation, negotiation, and interpretation. We collaborate with engagement teams, Line of Service Risk Management, the One Firm Risk organization and subject matter experts to effectively address the contracting requirements of the firm.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of

You’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead high-value negotiations for complex, multi-territory, and international contracts, ensuring efficient and timely execution
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad spectrum of contracts, emphasising business outcomes and effective risk mitigation. Address inquiries related to contract interpretation and compliance efficiently, providing consistent legal support to business units
  • Collaborate closely with business partners, applying practical strategies while seeking a thorough understanding of the firm’s business and operations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for internal stakeholders regarding legal considerations associated with new and evolving services, our operations and regulatory compliance
  • Deliver strategic guidance related to Network policies; monitor legislative developments and evaluate legal ramifications; remain at the forefront of industry trends
  • Uphold an operational excellence approach in all activities, and advocate for technological innovation to achieve the CCOE mandate
  • Oversee and coordinate with external legal counsel to secure comprehensive legal representation.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues, offering guidance and assistance to support their professional development.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace culture, collaborating with diverse teams both locally and within the acceleration centre.
