The Senior Manager of Engineering Obsolescence Control will coordinate the governance of the multiyear obsolescence remediation program across engineering teams, ensuring technology sustainability, operational resilience, and compliance. This pivotal role involves leading remediation initiatives, working closely with architecture, platform, and delivery teams to keep technology components current and aligned with strategic roadmaps. Responsibilities include identifying EOL risks, designing remediation strategies, maintaining obsolescence inventory, reporting program status to senior partners, and driving estate standardization. The role requires strong engagement with CIOs, Program Directors, and Risk teams, focusing on both current execution and future scope definition for this multiyear program.

ROLE SUMMARY:

This role will coordinate the governance of the multiyear obsolescence remediation program across engineering teams. The role will also require to ensure the governance of one or multiple streams of obsolescence remediation programs across engineering and will lead all aspects of the evolution of the strategic and tactical remediation initiatives against the plan. The role is pivotal in ensuring technology sustainability, operational resilience, and compliance across the organization’s infrastructure estate. You will work closely with architecture, platform, and delivery teams to ensure technology components remain current, supported, and aligned with strategic roadmaps - driving proactive modernization and reducing technical debt. A strong engagement with CIOs and their team, with Program Directors from the contributing programs, with Engineering 1LOD, as well as with the 2LOD Risk teams. The program is phased. Focus for the first year covers the execution of the agreed scope and in parallel, handling the definition of future scope detailed data analysis and planning. This is a multiyear program requiring ongoing governance of the entire scope across the years!
 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Obsolescence Management:

  • Identify and assess end-of-life (EOL) risks across hardware, OS, middleware, network and platform components.

  • Design and implement remediation strategies for legacy and unsupported technologies.

  • Maintain and improve the obsolescence inventory and lifecycle roadmap in alignment with vendor support timelines and security standards.

  • Lead all aspects of data and reporting accuracy

  • Report back to senior partners on program status

  • Define future scope aligned to planning and budgeting process

  • Drive estate standardization, consolidation, and optimization initiatives.

  • Support rationalization and decommissioning programs to reduce footprint and cost.

Data & Reporting:

  • Generate insights and dashboards to supervise estate health, obsolescence posture, and remediation progress.

  • Chip in to demand planning and asset lifecycle forecasting.

Partner Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with product owners, platform teams, and vendor partners.

  • Influence technology decisions to support sustainability and reduce technical risk.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strategy, Technology Governance, Data Analysis, Information Management, Risk management and controls.
  • Demonstrable experience in infrastructure engineering or architecture within a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Good understanding of hardware, OS, virtualization, storage, and middleware platforms (e.g., Windows Server, RHEL, VMware, Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Hands-on experience with technology lifecycle management, obsolescence tracking, and remediation planning.
  • Familiarity with IT asset management (ITAM), CMDBs, and automation tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Ansible, SCCM).
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid integration strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Validated ability to influence and inspire change across multi-functional teams, with experience leading through ambiguity and handling customers in sophisticated, matrixed environments!
