Blink is seeking a Senior Manager, Product Design to lead user-centered design activities and manage UX/UI teams for products and web applications. This role involves partnering with business, product, and marketing teams to define strategic initiatives, shape scope, and champion user needs. The position requires contributing to design principles, evangelizing design strategy, and mentoring team members on ethical and innovative approaches, including AI-powered features. Responsibilities include providing design direction, understanding business and feature requirements, collaborating with IT for technical possibilities, assessing feature performance through usability testing and analytics, and managing a team of Product Designers. The ideal candidate will have experience in product, technology, or digital functions, leading teams from roadmapping through delivery, and possess strong people management skills.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of experience in user experience and user interface design
  • 4+ years of direct people management skills
  • Knowledge of design and research process and strategy
  • Experience leading teams working with product or business teams from roadmapping through delivery
Good to have:
  • 3+ years of experience working on eCommerce app and web experiences
  • Previous experience in product, technology, or digital function highly preferred

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading user-centered design activities and managing teams that do UX and UI work related products and/or web applications.
 
The Senior Manager of Product Design will partner with business, product, and marketing teams to understand strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives to shape the scope and requirements and to champion the user needs.
 
Duration: 1 year
Location: Hybrid in Bellevue, WA or Frisco, TX

What you'll do

  • Strategy
  • Contribute to the creation and evolution of design principles, guidelines and patterns.
  • Establish, evolve and evangelize design strategy across the company.
  • Communicate best practices for design and reasoning behind UX decisions to key stakeholders.
  • Guide, mentor, and educate team members and stakeholders on ethical, accessible, and innovative approaches to implementing dynamic features powered by Artificial Intelligence.

  • User Experience
  • Provide design direction and feedback and educates on the implications of designing for omni channel experiences for different users, including superusers.
  • Work across teams to understand business and feature requirements, business goals, and company strategy goals.
  • Work with user researchers and stakeholders to understand and user needs and requirements and business goals.
  • Collaborate with IT partner teams to understand the technical possibilities and constraints.
  • Work with Researchers and Designers to maintain consistency and solve cross-application design challenges.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with highly technical teams and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features by conducting/participating in usability testing and interpreting analytics data.
  • Demonstrate a high level of accountability, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to manage workload and achieve results.

  • Relationship and People Management
  • Oversee and manage a team of Product Designers.
  • Collaborate with other team leads for evolving team process to better serve the team’s needs.
  • Build credibility with stakeholders, management peers, direct reports, and executives.
  • Provide feedback and direction to ensure intuitive and innovative solutions and drive consistency following established design principles, guidelines and patterns.
  • Educate the UX Team on the importance of following a User-centered Design process.
  • Effectively manage team to achieve results by providing appropriate direction, timely developmental feedback and coaching.
  • Support team in creating training and career development plans.
  • Provide coaching and direction to the team that drives action and enables achievement of performance and operational goals.

Your background

  • Degree in human-centered design, computer science, research, psychology, or related work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in user experience and user interface design
  • 3+ years of experience working on eCommerce app and web experiences
  • 4+ years of direct people management skills
  • Knowledge of design and research process and strategy
  • Previous experience in product, technology, or digital function highly preferred
  • Experience leading teams working with product or business teams from roadmapping through delivery

$150,000 - $165,000 a year
