The Sr. Manager Software Technology must be able to lead and develop teams in the overall planning, development (buy and/or build and integrate) and sustainment of applications (web, mobile and desktop) that support the ongoing growth and efficiency of our business partners. This specific opportunity starts with, but will not always be limited to, initiatives focused within our Disney Vacation Club (DVC) line of business for our Member Services and Member Fulfillment/Booking suite of applications. This role will also provide opportunities for collaboration and support across all of our Disney Signatures Experiences and Parks and Resorts Digital and Technology led initiatives spanning Marketing, Sales, Financial and Operational areas.

The candidate must possess the ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to business sponsors and partners, technical resources, and executives, in clear concise language that is effective for each respective group.

The Sr. Manager must be able to manage competing priorities between daily operations, strategic projects and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities and Expectations:


  • Lead a team that defines frameworks and insights, participate in code reviews that consider diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability for code within our applications
  • Actively lead a team in the participation in the development and input to our coordinated D&T investment roadmap by working on technology developed and maintained by our product managers and software engineers
  • This includes our 5-yr plan, annual capital plan (ACP) and annual operating plan (AOP) to ensure alignment of business growth, technical currency, security, and compliance objectives
  • Technical & Managerial Leadership of, and day to day guidance, for a 24/7 operation, spanning multiple business application teams/resources (Cast, Contractors, onshore, near-shore and off-shore)
  • Planning and prioritization of technology upgrades, implementations, and changes to ensure we meet and or exceed our overall systems availability metrics, inclusive of incident management, root-cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Oversight and development of business case justifications and initiative funding approval requests.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships required across the DX portfolio – business partners, product vendors, technology suppliers, staffing partners, peers and colleagues to ensure top quality solution delivery
  • Directly lead teams in the execution of Digital and Technology projects and programs to achieve our annual and long-term D&T objectives
  • Cost and schedule, planning and reporting for assigned applications and projects, working with division controllers
  • Ensuring and championing our Disney culture and our 5-Keys: Safety, Courtesy, Inclusion, Show and Efficiency.


Basic Qualifications :


  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or related experience
  • Experience in project management methodology and practices with 5+ years managing software development projects preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years as a direct leader of technology teams focused on applications development
  • Experience leading technical sustainment teams providing 24x7 support of critical applications
  • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle SDLC (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and associated execution models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative Development, etc.).
  • Experience managing complex, highly integrated, large scale, delivery efforts
  • Experience in projects/programs that leverage resources and knowledge across functional boundaries.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Able to resolve matters/issues in a positive manner
  • Proven ability to properly manage project timeline and financials including budget preparation, cost management, invoices, and change orders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The position requires frequent communication with senior leaders, technical colleagues and partners across several different geographic locations and time zones
  • Candidate must have team-building, mentoring and guidance skills to provide oversight and direction to contractors and internal members of the software development team
  • Ability to handle virtual teams and work with resources in multiple sites (onsite, offshore, near shore)


Required Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience


Preferred Skills:


  • A thorough understanding of Disney Vacation Club operations and/or Timeshare management systems – Sales Leads Management, Contracting, Financial and Booking/Fulfillment
