Job Description

Unity is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Build and Test team within the Core Engine group. This role involves guiding the development of software used to build and validate the Unity Engine, as well as tools for users to create games. The manager will ensure timely delivery of scripting tools, collaborate on long-term vision and technical roadmap, track metrics, communicate plans, provide user support, and foster team development. The position focuses on integrating .NET runtime and tooling into Unity and building compiler technologies for efficient native code.
Good To Have:
  • Previous management experience.
  • Game development experience, particularly engine development.
  • Experience working with remote/international teams.
  • Experience developing cross-platform code (particularly between ARM & x64).
  • Prior use of Unity.
Must Have:
  • Ensuring the timely delivery and fitness for purpose of custom and external components of scripting tools.
  • Collaborating with technical leadership to craft a long-term vision and technical roadmap for the team.
  • Designing, tracking, and communicating relevant metrics to guide resourcing decisions.
  • Communicating the team’s plans internally and externally to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Providing feedback and solutions to users through documentation, forums, bug reports, and internal support mechanisms.
  • Guiding the development and effectiveness of team members.
  • Strength in C# and C++.
  • Relevant knowledge of compiler toolchains and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with global stakeholders.

We’re looking for an engineering manager to guide the development effort of our Build and Test in the Core Engine group. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the software we use build and validate Unity Engine, as well as many of the tools our users use to make incredible games

What you'll be doing

  • Ensuring the timely delivery and fitness for purpose of the custom and external components of our scripting tools
  • Collaborating with technical leadership across the organization to craft a long-term vision and technical roadmap for the team
  • Design, track, and communicate relevant metrics to guide resourcing decisions
  • Communicate the team’s plans internally and externally to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide feedback and solutions to users through documentation, forums, bug reports, and internal support mechanisms
  • Guide the development and effectiveness of team members

What we're looking for

  • BS/MS Computer Science, or equivalent engineering experience
  • Strength in C# and C++
  • Relevant knowledge of compiler toolchains and the .NET ecosystem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with global stakeholders
