Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a Senior Principal Product Designer to join the Core team. In this role, you’ll drive high-impact initiatives that shape the future of Yahoo Mail’s foundational experiences. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to evolve how people read, write, organize, and search — with a focus on quality, simplicity, and innovation.
This role is ideal for someone who brings deep expertise in product design, a strategic mindset, and a passion for elevating the craft. You’ll play a key role in mentoring others, influencing product direction, and ensuring the work we ship meets the highest standards of usability and polish.
Responsibilities:
Product Designers at Yahoo collaborate with partners to define the vision for new features, while owning and driving the craftsmanship of every interaction and visual design detail. Day-to-day, you will:
Lead design for complex, cross-functional initiatives that impact millions of users
Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, and analysts to define problems and shape solutions
Create and communicate high-quality user flows, wireframes, visuals, and prototypes
Use data, research, and intuition to inform and refine your design decisions
Participate in and facilitate critiques and team reviews with a strong point of view
Influence and contribute to our design system to ensure consistency and scalability
Help set and uphold the craft quality bar across the team
Mentor and support designers across levels, contributing to team growth and development
Advocate for the user and champion design thinking across the organization
About you:

Qualifications:
10+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong focus on consumer-facing experiences
A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional product thinking, visual craft, and end-to-end process
Deep experience working with design systems and multi-platform environments
Comfortable navigating cross-functional partnerships and driving alignment at all levels
Bonus: Experience with motion design, prototyping, or front-end tools
