Role description

Your North Star: build and launch a new, market-defining virtual care service from the ground up for an underserved women’s health patient population

We’re looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial product manager to be the founding PM for a new direct-to-consumer business line at Pomelo Care. This is a rare "0 to 1" opportunity to build a new product and business within a mission-driven, scaling company. You will work closely with the GM of the business and own our product strategy, including building the end-to-end patient experience. You’ll work to define what a best-in-class, consumer-first healthcare experience should be, and then partner with a dedicated team of clinicians, engineers, operators, and marketers to bring that vision to life.

What you'll do

  • Define and execute the product strategy for a new D2C service line, from initial concept through product-market fit and into scale.
  • Lead foundational user research to deeply understand the needs, pain points, and journey of a new patient population we aim to serve.
  • Design the entire end-to-end patient and provider experience, ensuring a seamless blend of virtual care, digital tools, and operational support, leveraging Pomelo’s existing tools where helpful.
  • Translate complex clinical needs and protocols into a simple, intuitive, and empowering product for our patients.
  • Leverage AI to make yourself and the product maximally efficient.
  • Define the core metrics for product success, establish our initial product analytics foundation, and drive a culture of data-informed decision-making.
  • Build and manage the product roadmap, making critical prioritization and tradeoff decisions to drive momentum and learning in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work as a core member of a small, focused team of operators, engineering, design, and clinical leads to rapidly ship, test, and iterate on the product.
  • Champion this new venture internally, building alignment with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across the organization.

Who you are

  • 4+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of taking products from 0 to 1.
  • Extensive experience in direct-to-consumer (D2C) product management, including user acquisition, conversion, and retention funnels.
  • A true first-principles thinker; you are energized by ambiguity and skilled at creating structure and clarity in a brand-new problem space.
  • Deep user empathy and a passion for talking to users to uncover foundational insights that shape product strategy.
  • You are a master of execution and know how to get things done and be scrappy. You know how to launch an MVP and iterate quickly toward a larger vision.
  • Highly entrepreneurial and comfortable making decisions with incomplete information. You have a strong bias for action and a knack for navigating uncertainty.
  • Exceptional communicator and collaborator who can inspire a team and manage stakeholders from the C-suite to the front lines of care.
  • You have a strong product and design sense, with a passion for creating consumer-grade experiences that people love.
  • You are deeply excited about tackling complex healthcare challenges and building solutions for underserved patient populations.

Bonus if you have any of the following

  • Experience with products that bridge digital experiences and human-delivered services.
  • Experience growth hacking 0 to 1 products.
  • Experience in healthcare technology, particularly in launching new clinical service lines.
  • Founder experience or experience as a very early employee at a startup.

At Pomelo, we are committed to hiring the best team to improve outcomes for all mothers and babies, regardless of their background. We need diverse perspectives to reflect the diversity of problems we face and the population we serve. We look to hire people from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, and veteran status.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. Given that this role is open to candidates of different skill levels, determining a salary range is challenging. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $150,000 to $190,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
