Duolingo is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join the Platform team, working closely with the VP of Engineering. This role involves driving the operating rhythm, ensuring smooth execution, and strengthening collaboration across the business. The mission is to develop the best education globally and make it universally available, leveraging innovative solutions, data-driven decisions, and continuous learning opportunities.
Must have:
  • Drive the Platform pillar’s operating rhythm: OKRs, planning, metrics, and reporting.
  • Ensure clear communication, alignment, and decision-making across teams.
  • Organize off-sites, all-hands, and social events that strengthen leadership and team culture.
  • Oversee pillar-wide processes, including talent management and follow-ups.
  • Partner with engineers, TPMs, and leadership to align on technical initiatives.
  • Translate technical updates into clear, actionable communication.
  • Streamline workflows, eliminate inefficiencies, and surface blockers early.
  • 5+ years in program management, or similar roles within an engineering org.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives with measurable impact.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and partner effectively with engineers.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • B.S./M.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • Willing to work in or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Good to have:
  • Experience as a program manager in a technical org.
  • Prior exposure to platform or infrastructure teams.
  • 10+ years of relevant program/operations management experience.
  • Familiarity with distributed teams and global operations.
  • Background in technical environments such as software engineering or systems.

About the role
