Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Publishing Gameplay QA Analyst to conduct comprehensive testing of video games, focusing on gameplay aspects like combat, mechanics, AI, controls, interactions, UI, progression systems, balance, and overall playability. The role involves identifying, reporting, and verifying gameplay and UX bugs, developing and maintaining detailed gameplay-focused test checklists, and ensuring continuous improvement of test coverage. You will collaborate closely with development, design, and UX teams, provide constructive feedback, document processes, and manage QA responsibilities for multiple titles from early development through release. This position also requires coordinating testing workflows with external QA partners and representing the company's QA standards.
Must have:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in video game testing, focusing on gameplay.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and executing gameplay test plans.
  • Solid experience working collaboratively with design and development teams.
  • Expertise in documenting QA processes and bugs.
  • Excellent understanding of game design and UX principles.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Passion for video games and gameplay mechanics.
Good to have:
  • Experience testing games across various platforms (PC, consoles, VR).
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles.

Job Description

  • Conduct comprehensive testing of video games, focusing on gameplay aspects such as combat, mechanics, AI, controls, interactions, UI, progression systems, balance, and overall playability.
  • Identify, report, and verify bugs related to gameplay and UX with accuracy and context.
  • Develop and maintain detailed gameplay-focused test checklists, adapting them as game features evolve.
  • Ensure checklists fully cover critical gameplay systems, continuously improving test coverage and depth.
  • Collaborate closely with development, design, and UX teams to ensure the gameplay experience aligns with both creative intent and technical requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback on design and UX aspects to support meaningful iteration.
  • Document testing processes, issue logs, and testing results; ensure QA documentation is organized and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of QA responsibilities for multiple titles simultaneously, from early development through release.
  • Coordinate testing workflows with external QA partners, setting expectations and verifying delivery quality.
  • Represent the company’s QA standards and product quality to external studios and partners.
  • Test the performance, usability, and stability of gameplay features across target platforms.
  • Analyze gameplay data and QA reports support and solidify decision-making and risk management around systemic gameplay.
  • Ensure consistent gameplay integrity and experience parity across platforms (PC, consoles, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in video game testing, with a strong focus on gameplay.
  • Proven experience in creating, maintaining, and executing gameplay-focused test plans.
  • Solid experience working with design and development teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Expertise in documenting QA processes, bugs, and test outcomes.
  • Excellent understanding of game design, gameplay systems, player behavior, and UX principles.
  • Strong ability to analyze, prioritize, and communicate gameplay issues effectively.
  • High level of precision, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and risk identification capabilities.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • A genuine passion for video games and a deep interest in gameplay mechanics and player experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in testing games across various platforms (PC, consoles, VR).
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles.
  • Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Leadership experience within a QA environment or mentoring junior QA staff.
