SS8 Networks, Inc. is seeking a Senior Services Engineer experienced in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and documenting SS8's infrastructure supporting Intelligence products. The role focuses on integrating SS8 products within telecommunication and LEA networks, deployed on Linux platforms in various environments. The candidate must work onsite in Farnborough for a minimum of 3 days a week and have a valid UK driving license, with potential travel to customer sites. The job requires DV security clearance. Responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting, field installation, remote support, customer upgrades, and providing product training.
Must have:
- Technical understanding of network and IT security
- Experience of Tier 1 Customer Service Provider networks
- Strong knowledge of IP protocols at packet level
- Familiar with packet capture tools i.e. Wireshark
- Strong ability to analyze log files
- Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems
- Networking fundamentals - LAN/WAN
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good to have:
- Broad knowledge of regulatory compliance
- Some experience with scripting (Shell/Bash, Python, Perl)
- Any technical DPI or Packet Broker experience
- Experience with mobile and fixed line services
- Experience with encryption protocols (IPSEC, TLS)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies
- Experience with Cloud Deployments
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Exposure to Network Monitoring tools

Location: Farnborough (Hampshire) Office, UK
Job Description:
SS8 Networks, Inc. is looking for a Senior Services Engineer with hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, problem management, testing, and documenting SS8’s portfolio of infrastructure supporting Intelligence products. The role is focused on integrating the SS8 product set within telecommunication and LEA networks. The product set is deployed on Linux platforms in standalone, Kubernetes, or cloud environments.
The successful candidate will be required to work onsite in the Farnborough (Hampshire) office for a minimum of 3 days a week and have a valid UK driving license, as this role will involve ad hoc travel to customer sites and international travel. The job will require DV security clearance to access customer systems.
Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
- Assist other Engineers with advanced troubleshooting as well as testing new installation procedures and products.
- Responsible for field installation & support of the SS8 Products
- Provide remote support to customer base
- Assist customers with upgrades of hardware and software
- Be the interface for New Product Introduction
- Help customers with equipment configuration
- Assistance in scripting automation
- Provide training on product operation, one-on-one or in small groups
- Work closely with other groups to ensure successful and high customer satisfaction
- Location, Lawful and Data Intelligence Products and Protocols
- Participate in customer technical assistance troubleshooting conference calls
- Manage the segregated local network infrastructure
- Self-motivated. Able to manage time and work independently
- Deploy and maintain remote connectivity to customer networks from the local support office
- Maintain and enhance customer monitoring tools
- Will be required to participate in an on-call rotation with other team members in order to provide 24x7 support to our customer base
- Ability to test, troubleshoot, isolate, and at times provide additional information to Engineering to resolve customer product issues
- Collaborate and assist the Implementation Manager in the improvement of deployment methods and process.
- Document and provide knowledge transfer information across multiple groups within and out of SS8
Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required:
Essential:
- Technical understanding of network and IT security
- Manage process to successful conclusion
- Experience of Tier 1 Customer Service Provider networks and associated Live business critical systems
- Strong knowledge of IP protocols at packet level
- Familiar with packet capture tools i.e. Wireshark
- Strong ability to analyze log files and then follow the troubleshooting path to resolve faults
- Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RedHat or similar variant)
- Networking fundamentals - LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to travel (including domestic and international) as needed
Desirable:
- Broad knowledge of regulatory compliance
- Some experience with scripting (Shell/Bash, Python, Perl or other)
- Any technical DPI or Packet Broker experience
- Experience with mobile and fixed line carrier grade voice/data services, such as VoIP, IMS, 4G/5G data or Broadband services
- Experience with encryption protocols (IPSEC, TLS)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Docker)
- Experience with Cloud Deployments
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized methods of deploying software
- Exposure to Network Monitoring tools
Experience and Education Requirements:
- BA/BS in technology related field (desired)
- 5+ years of experience in high tech, preferably in telecom and large system deployments
- Must be willing to acquire Security Clearance or already hold some form of Security Clearance.
