Job Description

Senior Software Engineer focusing on Android Developer Experience at Google. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, code review, contributing to documentation, and resolving product/system issues. The role requires expertise in software development, data structures, algorithms, testing, software design, distributed systems, and ideally, machine learning. The candidate will work on projects critical to Google's needs, contributing to the core technical foundation of flagship products. This involves building central solutions and strengthening existing systems across Google's product ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership skills and a passion for developing scalable, high-performance systems.

Must have:

5+ years software development experience
Experience with data structures/algorithms
Experience testing, maintaining, launching software
Experience developing infrastructure/distributed systems
Machine Learning/AI experience
Experience building/managing distributed systems

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS
Technical leadership experience
Experience with developer-focused products
Experience architecting/developing scalable systems

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
Experience in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.
Experience building and managing distributed software systems and infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, high performance, distributed systems.
Experience working with developer-focused products and tools.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
