Job Summary

Job Description

This role involves designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, reliable, and secure code within the Risk Intelligence development team. The Senior Software Engineer will work with a Java-based legacy codebase (Java 8, 11, 17, 21) and the Spring Boot framework, collaborating in a multi-functional agile team. Responsibilities include making informed technical decisions, taking ownership of problems, mentoring junior developers, and providing technical support.
Must have:
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and secure code based on user stories and requirements.
  • Work on a Java-based legacy codebase that spans multiple versions (Java 8, 11, 17, 21) and is built on the Spring Boot framework.
  • Collaborate within a multi-functional agile team to deliver enterprise-grade software in alignment with company standards and methodologies.
  • Make informed decisions in situations that require improvisation, balancing technical feasibility with long-term impact.
  • Take ownership of problems beyond your initial responsibility when needed, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Mentor and review work of peers and junior developers, sharing knowledge and inspiring others toward standard methodologies.
  • Work under agile practices such as planning, refinement, and retrospectives, continuously identifying ways to improve the team's efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to operations and other development teams when required.
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience across multiple Java versions.
  • Strong understanding of MongoDB structure, design patterns, and performance tuning.
  • Proven grasp of object-oriented design, clean code principles, and secure coding practices.
  • Ability to write automated unit and integration tests with a strong focus on test coverage and reliability.
  • Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Proficient in using Git (including branching, rebasing, conflict resolution, and submodule management).
Good to have:
  • Experience with front-end technologies (React) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices.
  • Experience working with Maven multi-module projects.

Crucial Skills:

  • 5+ years of full-stack or backend-focused software development experience.
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience across multiple Java versions.
  • Strong understanding of MongoDB structure, design patterns, and performance tuning.
  • Proven grasp of object-oriented design, clean code principles, and secure coding practices.
  • Ability to write automated unit and integration tests with a strong focus on test coverage and reliability.
  • Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Proficient in using Git (including branching, rebasing, conflict resolution, and submodule management).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to plan, explain, and align technical direction with teammates and partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in ambiguous and constantly evolving environments.

Desired Skills/Experience Required:
