Morningstar Data for equities provides comprehensive coverage of global stock markets. This role involves collaborating with technology managers, scrum masters, functional experts, and developers to build technology solutions for Equity applications. The team seeks problem solvers for a fast-paced environment. The Lead will mentor team members, provide guidance, and expand their capabilities. They will coordinate with a global team, apply discipline, create solid software products, and ensure accountability for deliverables while maintaining organizational visibility.

From APIs to data feeds, our solutions are delivered quickly to help institutions meet a broad range of functions.

The Role

In this role, you will collaborate with technology manager, scrum Master, functional experts, and developers to build technology solutions for Equity applications. The team is looking for forward-thinking problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Lead is responsible in mentoring the team members, provide guidance and opportunities for the team members to expand their capabilities and skills. They will have to coordinate and work with the members in a global team. We are looking for an individual that can apply discipline, create solid software products and hold their team accountable for deliverables while providing visibility into the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design & develop web and enterprise solutions that are flexible, scalable, and extensible.
• Improve complex data flows, data structures, and database design to support platform evolution.
• Hands-on development will be an integral part of the responsibilities.
• Enforce Agile best practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI).
• Lead development of automated and continuous deployment pipelines on AWS.
• Introduce and adopt AI tools and machine learning solutions to accelerate delivery and improve product intelligence.
• Drive implementation of cloud-native architectures using AWS services.
• Participate actively in design, architecture, and build phases to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Requirements

These are the most important skills, qualities, etc. that we’d like for this role.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 4–5 years of experience in software development.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java, Advanced Java, and Spring Boot Framework.
• Highly proficient in Vue.js and core principles like components, reactivity, and virtual DOM.
• Good to have knowledge of any JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js (>v2), Node.js, etc.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
• Strong foundation in HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful services.
• Knowledge of Python is a plus, especially for data processing and ML integration.
• Familiarity with AI/ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar) and practical machine learning implementation experience.
• Experience building and deploying applications on AWS using services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, and SageMaker.
• Exposure to AI-based development tools or platforms that enhance engineering productivity (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AWS CodeWhisperer, etc.).
• Exposure to distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
• AWS Certifications are a plus.
• Exposure to capital markets domain (Indexes, Equities, etc.) is preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
