Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer for Google Assistant, you'll be a key player in developing and maintaining the next generation of technologies that power Google's voice assistant. This involves writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of software solutions. You'll troubleshoot issues, analyze system performance, and enhance existing features. Your expertise in software design, architecture, and testing will be crucial in delivering high-quality products that meet the demands of Google’s scale and complexity. Responsibilities include managing project priorities, debugging issues, and contributing to documentation. The role demands experience in software development, testing, and design within various programming languages. The role requires a versatile individual capable of demonstrating leadership qualities and tackling new challenges across the full-stack.

Must have:

5+ years software development experience
Proficiency in data structures and algorithms
3+ years software testing/launching experience
1+ year software design and architecture experience
Code writing and testing
Design review participation
Code review and feedback
Issue triage and resolution

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Technical leadership experience
Experience with accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
