Job Description

The Senior Weapons Artist will be responsible for creating memorable designs and art for a variety of weapons. The role involves collaborating with Art Directors, Producers, Animators, and Tech Artists to deliver distinctive weapons and ensuring an authentic player experience. The artist will need to research the subject matter relating to objectives and contribute creative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of experience in the games industry.
  • Strong understanding of 3D and 2D packages.
  • Excellent understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems.
  • In-depth understanding of game engines and pipelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of weapon designs.
Good to have:
  • Shipped at least 1 AAA game.
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry or procedural content creation.
  • Strong traditional art foundation.
  • Experience in adjacent fields like quest design.

Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for Senior Weapons Artist to join the development of a new IP. 

You’ll create memorable designs and art for an array of weapons.


You’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.  


You’ll help us by… 

  • Sharing your passion and knowledge of authentic weapon aesthetics, designs, and history

  • Collaborating with Art Directors, Producers, Animators, and Tech Artists to deliver distinctive weapons that drive world-class player experiences

  • Researching subject matter relating to objectives to ensure an authentic experience

  • Contributing creative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development


You're awesome because you have...

  • 8+ years of experience in the games industry or related field working in an art capacity

  • Strong understanding of crafting weapon art assets in multiple major 3D and 2D packages (3DS Max or Maya and Photoshop or Substance)

  • Excellent understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems and techniques

  • Possesses in-depth understanding of game engines, pipelines, and processes

  • Extensive knowledge of weapon designs; including form, shape, structure, functionality, and purpose

  • Rock-solid communication and problem-solving skills

  • Inspiring portfolio demonstrating focus and dedication to realistic weapons and current gen 2D/3D asset creation; ideally demonstrating hard surface firearm and weapon models with high-quality materials and textures


Bonus Points for...

  • Have shipped at least 1 AAA game

  • Familiarity with photogrammetry process or procedural content creation

  • Strong traditional art foundation

  • History of playing a variety of game genres both digital and physical.

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling such as Fusion 360, Solidworks or comparable software

  • Major recognition in your field of work 

  • Experience in adjacent fields such as quest design, environment art, programming, etc.
