Job Description

The Area Proposal Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, strategy, and execution of reactive proposal development within Optiv SLED business. This role will support sales and presales organization and will work directly with Sales and cross-functional team members to lead winning proposal engagements. The job involves providing consultation and leadership, advising on strategic direction, peer reviewing proposals, inputting in reporting and analytics, and handling special projects.
Good To Have:
  • APMP, PMP, Shipley certifications desirable
  • Service selling experience desirable
  • Experience with Qvidian or similar tools preferred
Must Have:
  • 8+ years experience developing value-based RFx responses
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline
  • Experience with public and/or private sector proposals
  • Experience with E-Sourcing platforms
  • Understanding of SLED sourcing motions
  • High level of fluency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to edit for grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to work within a team

The Area Proposal Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, strategy, and execution of reactive proposal development within Optiv SLED business.  This role will support our sales and presales organization and will work directly with Sales and cross-functional team members to lead winning proposal engagements. 

How you'll make an impact

  • Provide consultation and leadership to response pursuit team members on strategy, content, and department procedures based on proposal experience in cybersecurity

  • Advise Director on strategic direction of team for standard practices and team growth

  • Peer review team proposals

  • Providing input in reporting and performance analytics

  • Handle special projects/research for department or process improvement

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years’ experience developing value-based RFx responses

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline; APMP, PMP, Shipley certifications desirable

  • Significant experience with public and/or private sector proposals, service selling experience desirable

  • E-Sourcing platform experience, including Ariba, Emptoris, Coupa, Scout, RFP 360, etc.

  • Understanding of SLED sourcing motions, contract vehicles, and posting plaftforms preferred

  • High level of fluency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and medium skill level in other MS Office suite applications

  • Ability to edit for grammar, spelling and punctuation following the AP stylebook

  • An ability to work within a team and collaborate with internal and external resources

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with Qvidian or similar tools preferred

  • Ability to interface with executive leadership and sales teams

  • Ability to work with international support teams

  • Ability to present information in a persuasive and influential way

  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines

  • A high level of self-motivation

  • Ability to work remotely and independently
