If you want to be part of a unique culture where the lived experience is based on our cultural attributes of growth mindset, customer-focus, and diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging, come join us and help advance the future software defined world.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Wind River is at the forefront of enabling mission-critical, distributed cloud infrastructure for 5G and intelligent edge applications. The Wind River Conductor product serves as the orchestration and automation backbone—providing a centralized, policy-driven platform to deploy, manage, and optimize applications and infrastructure across thousands of geographically dispersed sites. Purpose-built for carrier-grade and edge-aware environments, Conductor delivers zero-touch operations and blueprint-based automation, ensuring consistent, efficient, and resilient operations from the network core to the far edge. This is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture of a platform that is redefining how the industry builds and operates large-scale, distributed cloud systems.

YOUR ROLE

As a Software Architect, you will lead the architecture for Wind River Conductor, the orchestration and automation backbone for mission-critical, distributed cloud infrastructure. Define the vision, set the roadmap, and architect solutions for operations at scale and zero-touch provisioning across thousands of sites worldwide. Balance strategic decision-making with targeted hands-on prototyping to validate designs. Collaborate with global engineering teams, customers, and open-source communities to shape the future of telecom and intelligent edge automation.

While this is a software architecture role, you will also engage in targeted hands-on development and prototyping to validate architectural approaches, assess new technologies, and maintain a deep understanding of the product.

If you are a strategic thinker who thrives on designing complex systems, but you also enjoy rolling up your sleeves when needed — building prototypes, reviewing code, or troubleshooting architectural issues — to maintain a deep understanding of the platform and its evolution, this is your stage.

You will collaborate with Cloud team engineers and managers, other architects, product lines, groups, and teams across the company and in other locations and support internal and external customers. You will also have opportunities to engage with and contribute to various internal and external open-source communities. You will report to the Senior Director of Cloud Architecture within the CTO organization of Wind River.

In your daily job you will:

  • Define and maintain the architectural vision for Wind River Conductor, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security across thousands of distributed sites.
  • Lead architectural decision-making for core automation and orchestration capabilities, balancing technical innovation with product delivery priorities.
  • Design architectures for operations at scale, enabling consistent, reliable, and repeatable management of thousands of geographically distributed sites.
  • Architect zero-touch provisioning frameworks that securely onboard new sites and systems without manual intervention, using policy-driven automation and declarative service definitions.
  • Prototype and validate key product changes, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns to guide implementation teams.
  • Partner with engineering managers to align design decisions with long-term platform strategy.
  • Collaborate with customers, product management, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable architecture solutions.
  • Represent Wind River in industry forums and open-source communities, influencing standards and best practices.
  • Mentor engineers on architectural principles and design trade-offs.
