Job Summary
Software configuration management is an essential function within any software development team. It ensures that all changes to software are properly tracked, documented, and approved before they are implemented in the codebase. This helps prevent errors, ensure compliance with coding standards, and maintain version control of the software. A good Software Configuration Manager should have strong organizational skills, be able to work independently, and have excellent communication skills. They must also be familiar with software development processes and tools, as well as understand change management principles.
Responsibilities
- Manage the configuration of software projects using version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Track changes to code and other project assets using ticketing systems like JIRA or Bugzilla.
- Create and manage documentation for software configurations, including change logs, release notes, and user manuals.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and project managers to ensure that all changes are properly tested and approved before being merged into the main codebase.
- Conduct regular audits of the software configuration to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain version control of software by regularly updating dependencies and libraries.
- Implement best practices for software configuration management, such as using consistent naming conventions and organizing files in a logical manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience in software configuration management, ideally with tools like Git, SVN, and JIRA/Bugzilla.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash can be advantageous.

- Manage his team of engineers and technicians (yearly reviews, meetings, missions, objectives)
- Define the necessary qualifications and training plan for his team with the support of his management
- Allocate his team staff in the projects activities
- Propose trainings and career evolutions with the support of his management
- Contribute to the recruitment of the members of his department
Budget:
- Propose and follow the budget for his team
- Responsible of the Team Efficiency Plan and achievements
Process, Methodology, Tools, Equipment:
- Deploy the Engineering process, methodology and tools defined by / together with the Engineering discipline Manager / Director
- Participate to the definition of processes, methods and the tools necessary to properly handle projects
- Ensure the full deployment of 5 axes methodology
- Participate to the improvement of the standards, methods & tools of his Engineering discipline
Standardization & Robust Design
- Support RAISE team by ensuring knowledge, training and implementation of the standards
- Review and challenge Destandardization requests before release
- Ensure that each single design is achieving the highest level of Robust design.
