Job Description

Google's Pixel team seeks a Software Engineer specializing in computational videography and machine learning. Responsibilities include designing and developing state-of-the-art algorithms and ML models for video quality enhancement (stabilization, deblurring, super-resolution, etc.) on Pixel phones. The role involves collaboration with camera leads, research teams, and other engineering groups to optimize and integrate solutions. Defining future directions in video quality and improving pipelines are key aspects. The ideal candidate possesses strong programming skills (C/C++, Python), expertise in ML/AI, and experience with computer vision or related fields.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • 2+ years ML algorithm and tools experience
  • Experience in computational photography
  • Develop video enhancement algorithms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Experience in Computer Vision/Machine Learning
  • Experience with 3D rendering engines
  • Experience in real-time performance optimization
  • Experience with Google Infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools, artificial intelligence, deep learning and camera related domains, eg. computational photography.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience or education in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Graphics, including the productization of models or related publications.
  • Experience in one or more general purpose programming languages including C/C++, Python.
  • Experience in 3D rendering engines (e.g. unreal, unity) or robotics and experience in Google Infrastructure (e.g. borg/flume).
  • Experience in real-time performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with camera leads and research teams to design and develop state-of-the-art algorithms and Machine Learning models on video quality improvement/enhancement/assessment (e.g. stabilization, video deblurring, denoising, super resolution, novel view synthesis, motion tracking and video understanding) for Pixel phones.
  • Deliver the quality solutions, you will drive/conduct Research and development optimization and integration with partner teams, e.g. system/hardware/sensor/Phoxel engineers and videographers.
  • Work with Engineering leadership and Program Managers to define future directions on video quality, and collaborate with various teams across Google to define/improve pipeline, architecture, and specs to enable new video features.
