Software Engineer II - Full-Stack

PlayStation is looking for a Software Engineer to build systems which enable our business to craft incredible experiences on web, mobile, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5. What you will do:

  • Capture and define requirements, and craft solutions using technologies such as JavaScript, Java and React

  • Own features, applications or libraries, meeting or defining evaluation criteria for testability, scalability, and performance

  • Ensure proper code and test coverage by writing effective unit and integration tests

  • Work with QA to maintain a high-level of software quality, helping to adjust and adapt solutions and processes as needed

  • Work independently, collaborate with other members of your team, and mentor junior members

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and reusable code, while troubleshooting and problem-solving methodically and thoroughly, optimizing existing solutions, and refactoring the existing code base.

  • Exercise your creative problem solving capabilities to optimize existing solutions and work with other teams to define a path forward

  • Participate in on-call support and production troubleshooting, which may occur during off-hours, to ensure the continuity and reliability of the PlayStation Network

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or at least 5 years of relevant professional experience

  • 3-5+ years professional software development experience (Java, JavaScript)

  • Proficient in customer facing UI development (JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3)

  • Experience interacting with RESTful APIs

  • Experience collaborating with multi functional partners, especially with product, design, and server teams

  • Proficiency in performance optimization or comparable areas within your current field

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with SPA frameworks such as React, Angular, Ember.js, or similar

  • Experience building back-end services using Object-Oriented languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or similar

  • Experience with Relational Databases

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies

  • Experience with hosting applications and services in AWS

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$145,700 - $218,500 USD
