About the Role

The Software Engineer, Infrastructure Platform will design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure and tools that power our global online game, including overseeing build / deploy, backend services (matchmaking, storage, etc.), load testing, and global deployment. You will work closely with our Engineering Director to ensure our backend infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and enables other teams to be productive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement backend systems, tools, and automation that enable other teams to develop, test, and deploy game features efficiently

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers on the team, conducting code reviews and ensuring high standards of quality

  • Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions where appropriate, focusing on building game-specific technology only when necessary

  • Work with the Engineering Director to establish best practices around branching, merging, code reviews, testing, and deployment

  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies that could impact the game's success

Required Experience

  • 4+ years of professional engineering experience, including 3+ years working on live games or large-scale backend services

  • Deep expertise in server-side languages (e.g. C#, Python, Go), databases (e.g. MongoDB/DocumentDB), and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)

  • Strong experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation

  • Knowledge of DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices architectures

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic execution

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Passion for gaming and desire to build AAA quality infrastructure to power amazing player experiences

Pahdo Labs is making Halcyon Dive, a cooperative multiplayer action rogue-lite set in an anime inspired world. In Halcyon, Divers travel between the lush, cutting edge Nishi Island Metropolis (NIM) and the virtual world of So Mi in pursuit of riches and stardom.

  • Salary Range:

    • On-site in New York City

      • US$125,000-$200,000 base salary

      • Significant equity in the form of stock options

      • 3-5 days / week in-office
