Job Description

At Legion Technologies, we aim to transform hourly jobs into good jobs using intelligent automation and AI. As a Backend Software Engineer on the Platform Team, you will build and scale the core foundation for these intelligent systems. This involves designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services, APIs, and infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of Legion’s multi-tenant SaaS application. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, and AWS, contributing to a mission-driven product impacting millions of hourly workers.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with feature flags, A/B testing, or experimentation platforms.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Familiarity with development tools (e.g, Github, Sonacube, Maven).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and analytics tools (e.g, Datadog).
Must Have:
  • Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable features on time.
  • Drive operational excellence by leading root cause analysis and elimination efforts and supporting reliability through the on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with Product to deliver the right features for customers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Collaborate with QA to test and deliver high quality features to production.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve product quality and data-driven decision-making.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years building and deploying backend technologies (Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, Elastic Search).
  • 3-5 years delivering software in a cloud-based environment (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • 3-5 years working on building multi-tenant SaaS applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scalable architecture, data modeling, design patterns, Java, object-oriented design and performance optimization.
  • Strong sense of ownership, problem-solving ability, and passion for building reliable, high-performing systems.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Backend Software Engineer on Legion’s Platform Team, you’ll help build and scale the core foundation that powers these intelligent systems. You’ll design, implement, and maintain backend services, APIs, and infrastructure that ensure the platform’s reliability, scalability, and performance. The Platform team owns the backbone of Legion’s multi-tenant SaaS application; a high-performance, data-driven Java enterprise system that supports both our web and mobile experiences.

You’ll work hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL and AWS to deliver high quality, cloud-native software. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer with 3–5 years of experience who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working on distributed systems, and contributing to a mission-driven product that impacts millions of hourly workers worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable features on time.

  • 3-5 years working on building multi-tenant SaaS applications.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range: Base Salary Range $110,000 - $150,000 + Stock Equity

Our posted salary range is done so in good faith based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position.
