Job Description
The Software Intern will work closely with software engineers on designing and implementing assignments such as environmental data processing, web application feature development, embedded software testing, production software tooling, and automation. Tasks will focus on learning and growth. Responsibilities include performing meaningful engineering work, receiving mentorship, collaborating with engineers, gaining experience in robotic systems, and touching the full software product lifecycle.
Must have:
- Current rising senior or grad student with at least one semester left
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, Java, or C#
- Solid understanding of software development principles (OO, data structures)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Good to have:
- Classroom project experience with code on GitHub
- Attention to detail and documentation skills
- Knowledge of agentic tools
- Demonstrated ability to own work from design to development

Software Intern
Overview
The Software Intern will work closely with the software engineers to design and implement well-defined full-scope assignments, such as environmental data processing and analysis, web application feature development (full stack), embedded software testing and debugging, production software tooling, and software development workflow automation. Exact tasks assigned will depend on skill level, aptitude, and interest; the tasks will be focused on learning and growth, not just on rote menial task execution.
Responsibilities:
- Perform meaningful engineering work
- Have great mentors to grow your skills and confidence
- Collaborate with and learn from engineers across all robotics product development functions
- Gain first-hand experience in challenges of robotic systems in harsh environments
- Touch each part of the full software product lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements through customer delivery
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2025 - June 2026), graduating senior (May 2025 grad) continuing to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify.
- Demonstrated experience with either Python, MATLAB, C++, Java, or C#
- Solid understanding of software development principles including OO concepts, data structures, queues and buffers, and interfaces.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Classroom project experience with code available on GitHub or another public platform
- A natural attention to detail and appreciation for organizing and documenting.
- Knowledge of how to leverage agentic tools to enhance both learning and software task execution
- Demonstrated ability to own work: understanding, designing, and then developing, rather than simply executing assigned small tasks.
