Job Description

The AWS Cloud Operations Engineer will manage, monitor, and optimize the AWS cloud environment. Responsibilities include managing AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and ECS for high availability and performance. The role involves setting up monitoring, alerts, and logs using CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray, as well as using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to automate infrastructure deployment. The engineer will also focus on cost optimization, security, and compliance with standards like HIPAA, SOC 2, and GDPR. Routine operations will be automated using Python, Bash, or PowerShell. The engineer will configure VPCs, VPNs, subnets and optimize connectivity via ALB, NLB, Direct Connect, and CloudFront. They will also monitor and control AWS spend and maintain SOPs, provide L2/L3 support, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. In addition, the engineer will design, monitor, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines.
Good To Have:
  • AWS Certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, etc.).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.
Must Have:
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS services like EC2, S3, and RDS.
  • Proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with CloudWatch and CloudTrail for system visibility.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of AWS networking (VPC, VPN).

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Operations Engineer to join our cloud infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing our AWS cloud environment. This role requires expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and cost optimization to ensure high availability, security, and scalability of our cloud services.

Your Role:

  • Provision, configure, and manage AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and ECS for high availability and performance.
  • Set up monitoring, alerts, and logs using CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray; respond to incidents and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Use Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to automate infrastructure deployment and configuration management.
  • Use AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, Compute Optimizer for cost control; implement backup/recovery using AWS Backup, S3 Lifecycle.
  • Manage IAM, implement security tools (GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF), and ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, etc.
  • Automate routine operations and administrative tasks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Configure VPCs, VPNs, Subnets, Route Tables, and optimize connectivity via ALB, NLB, Direct Connect, and CloudFront.
  • Monitor and control AWS spend using Cost Explorer, Budgets, and optimize resources via Reserved/Spot Instances.
  • Maintain SOPs, provide L2/L3 support, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for smooth cloud operations.
  • Design, monitor, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, and Data Pipeline

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with key AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, CloudFront, Route 53, and CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for automated provisioning.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate cloud operations and workflows.
  • Experience with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK Stack for system visibility and proactive issue detection.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Solid understanding of AWS networking (VPC, VPN, ALB/NLB, Direct Connect) and security tools (IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; able to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with provisioning, managing, and renewing SSL/TLS certificates using AWS ACM. Familiar with integrating ACM with services like CloudFront, ELB, and API Gateway to secure endpoints and ensure encrypted communication.
  • Exhibits solid expertise in configuring and managing Envoy as an API gateway and reverse proxy. Understands advanced routing, load balancing, service discovery, traffic splitting, and observability features.
  • Demonstrates understanding of High Availability (HA) architectures and deployment models such as Blue-Green, Canary, and Rolling deployments.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

AWS Certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).

Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration tools (EKS, Docker, Helm). Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments (AWS + On-Premise Integration).

Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident and change management

Prior experience working in a healthcare standards like HL7, FHIR etc.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
