Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, empowering creators with financial autonomy and direct connection to communities. As the Sports Partnerships Lead, you will create a thriving sports category on Substack by bringing industry leaders, helping them monetize, and fostering community. Success means sports news, community, and cultural moments happen on Substack. You will lead the Partnerships team, overseeing strategy, budget, external relationships, and goal execution for your market.
Must Have:
  • Creator acquisition across multiple sports creator segments (athletes, journalists, analysts).
  • Relationship development with gatekeepers (agents, leagues, teams).
  • Display market leadership in the sports creator economy by recruiting and launching the market within Substack and the industry.
  • Develop strategic programs for the market in service of activating creators and bringing new users to Substack.
  • Be a leader on the Partnerships team, working cross-functionally with the communications, product business operations and leadership teams to build and execute programs for the market, and for the Substack brand.

As the [Job Title], you will be responsible for creating a thriving sports category on [Company Name]. The ideal candidate will be a scrappy, innovative, creative thinker, with a deep interest in supporting creators, shaping culture, as well as deeply connected within the sports industry. They’ll be a self-starter who is ok with shifting priorities and eager to make an impact in a fast-paced, startup environment – able to both set ambitious strategy and goals and also execute those goals. They will be comfortable interfacing with creators, players, leagues, teams, industry leaders and player management. They will possess experience managing direct reports, and building and iterating on programs that can eventually scale across markets.

This role reports to the Head of Partnerships and is based in [Location], or for the right candidate, remote.

Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $150,000 to $170,000/year. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
