Substack is looking to hire an exceptional Partnerships Lead to focus on growing Sports and fitness on the platform in the UK. We are looking for someone who has a deep existing network within the sports world, as well as someone who has excellent relationship management experience, and is comfortable doing warm and cold outreach to talent. The ideal candidate will be able to accelerate a growing category without relying on a traditional sales playbook. They will have deep knowledge of the sports world here in the UK, as well as be prepared to help build the nascent fitness vertical on Substack.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of working with sports talent at every level, be a creative self-starter as well as a thoughtful team player. The role will be remote although easy accessibility to London is vital since regular meetings in the capital will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of lead sourcing and outreach to unlock key talent in UK sports- this includes writers, podcasters, multimedia creators as well as public figures
- Work with creators to help them develop their voice and vision on Substack
- Partner closely with the internal marketing, product, and data teams to deeply understand the market and then develop the best strategies to build it
- Build a complete strategy around the sports and fitness vertical, thinking about events that drive back to the platform as well as smart marketing opportunities that help raise Substack’s visibility within this vertical
Requirements:
- An exceptional contacts book within the world of sports and fitness creators
- A proven track record of working successfully with sports talent
- Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic skills, with sharp attention to detail
- A voracious reader and subscriber to Substacks, with a keen sense of the evolving tech and media landscape
- Interest in building the playbook (principles, strategy) and then scaling it (building solutions, processes, and teams)
- Artist relations and management experience are a plus
- Preference for candidates in or around London but remote is possible for the right experience level
